Whaddya Want?

As it says in the blurb to the right, Sheepshead Bites, the Bay’s first and only blog, will cover community meetings, development issues, local politics, interesting people, happenings and cool new places. But while that’s a mouthful, it’s not exactly saying much of substance. Which issues? What angle – if any – will we take on the meetings? Who are these so-called “interesting people”? What the heck is a “happening”?!

Well, dear readers, while we’ve got some ideas of our own, we’d much rather hear yours. So hit us up, and tell us exactly what you’d like us to cover and how you’d like us to cover it. Also, feel free to tell us about any neat-o features you’d like to see on the site, what you think of the site design, what community-related websites and papers you read, and where you think coverage is in short supply. Got nothing to say? Don’t fret! Feel free to just say hi and let us know who you are.

We can’t wait to hear from you, Sheepshead Bay!

    Interesting site! I’m bookmarking it!

Feel free to come to any Sheepshead Bay / Plumb Beach Civic Meeting (first Tuesday of the month), and I’ll add you to our mailing list as well – especially for Brigham Street Park Project news, of which there will be plenty of throughout the summer.

Also, I’d suggest covering CB15, and the 61 precinct Community Council.

I went to Marine Park JHS and had my bar mitzva at (what I am sure is a long-gone) Deauville Caterers on S. Bay. I am far away now – Jerusalem, Israel, but I will bookmark this site to keep up with what’s new in the old country. Good luck

Davey you are sooooooo right. I just came
back after 9 years and was shocked to see
    how much it has changed!

I also have a question:Is Valet parking allowed
on our streets in Sheepshead Bay??
I’m in the 20s between Shore Pky & Emmons, today I
watched them park several cars on the block, leaving nothing for the residents..When there
were no more spots left the took the bus and fire hydrant spaces on both main streets. This
goes on from 4pm till past midnight every
Fri~Sat & Sun.And no tickets are ever given.
We are very worried about our safety, so
    what can we do??

Hey, I moved to Sheepshead when I went to seventh grade at Shell Shell Bank and lived there till I went away to college. Then I got back and lived here for two more years. I’m actually really interested in ways to create community in Sheepshead Bay. I’ve attempted a movie night and the park manager didn’t okay my permit and went on to do other stuff in the meantime. But I keep coming back to the idea that I want my job, employment to do with revitalizing the community element of Sheepshead Bay. So, if you know of any jobs in the area that would have to do with that, please let me know. I have a background in environmental issues but that last job I had was about building a community of composters which included outreach, workshops, programs, events, and I loved getting people together and teaching people about important and interesting things. I’m looking for a job in I guess the field would be called community development. (Hi Gene!) So I am glad to find this blog and hope we can all work together to create a more vibrant and engaged community in Sheepshead Bay.

Forget about the Sheepshead Bay of your youth. Forget about the Brooklyn of your youth. There are no more submarine races out in the Narrows. Murray The K is now Boris The KGB. Be thankful for the memories of your youth. That;s all that’s left of Brooklyn. They ought to change thename of the borough out of respect.
