Lundy’s Renovation Begins

I was passing by Lundy’s the other day and noticed the door open with some work going on inside. I snapped a few shots, including the work permits confirming that the new businesses will be a “retailed food establishment with a restaurant”, which is line with speculation that an Outback Steakhouse and Whole Foods-type market will take the place of the historic restaurant. The permits are for plumbing and new mechanical work, as well as new walls.

I really wouldn’t mind seeing a whole foods market there.

Lorna: I don’t think it’s actually going to be a Whole Foods. Every time I’ve seen it reported, I always see it written along the lines of “Whole Foods-like”. My guess is it will be a regular gourmet food market, probably Russian, similar to the one on Ave. Z and E. 16 or 17. Which isn’t so bad in my opinion, but I fear there’s not enough residences around it to keep it in business. Coming from most directions to that store, you already pass a few that fill that niche. If it is a Whole Foods, though, I do believe the name brand will keep it busy.

local broker: Thanks for filling us in. I’m going to follow up on this.
