Amahal Lynch offered no apologies after a judge sentenced him to 40 years to life for the brutal 2010 murder of his girlfriend and her 8-year-old daughter.

“People make mistakes,” Lynch told the victims’ relatives who demanded a statement, according to the Daily News. “God is good, you know. I repented, you know.”

The crime was revealed in May 2010, when police were called to the scene of a burglary in the Sheepshead-Nostrand Houses. What authorities found were the naked lifeless bodies of Shakeema Elliot, 29, and her daughter Kaliya Williams in the bathtub, and pills scattered around.

But upon further investigation, police concluded that the bodies had been moved and arranged to suggest a murder-suicide, and the medical examiner soon found that both had been strangled to death and the 8-year-old sexually abused.

Lynch admitted to the 2010 double murder after officers nabbed the East New York resident days after the crime.

By confessing and pleading guilty, Lynch avoided a sentence of life without parole.

Twenty-year-old Amahal Lynch was arrested yesterday and charged with the Sunday morning murder of a Nostrand Houses resident and her 8-year-old daughter. According to a New York Times report, Lynch is an acquaintance of the victim, Shakeema Elliot, and an employee of the New York City Housing Authority. It’s unclear if he worked in the Sheepshead / Nostrand Houses, but offers found reason to believe the East New York resident is involved in the death by strangulation. When the story was first reported, police said they found the victims in the bathtub surrounded by pills, after being called for a possibly burglary. Police authorities are now saying the bodies may have been moved from another area in the apartment to the tub, and the bathroom made to look like a suicide scene.

From the Daily News:

The naked bodies of a “loving” mother and her 8-year-old daughter were found in a bathtub in their Brooklyn home early Sunday, police and friends said.

Shakeema Elliott, 29, and Kaliya Williams were already dead by the time paramedics arrived at their Batchelder St. home at 4:20 a.m., police said.

Elliott and Kaliya – whom friends lovingly called “Le Le” – were always together, friends recalled yesterday.

“She was a loving mother,” said Tobias Stuart, 34. “It was just her and her daughter all the time.”

Cops were called to the Nostrand Houses in Sheepshead Bay to look into a reported burglary. They found Elliott’s fourth-floor home ajar, and then made the chilling discovery in her bathroom.

“There was some water in the bathtub and some pills were around,” a police source said.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, and no suspects were being interviewed last night, police said.
