Video surveillance captured Klass robbing the liquor store.

The man who confessed to killing a beloved Midwood liquor store clerk during a 2010 robbery was sentenced to 35 years in prison, Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes announced today.

Eion Klass, 36, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempted robbery charges earlier this month, and was sentenced to 25 years and 10 years respectively.

According to the DA’s office, Klass was out on parole on August 19, 2010, when he attempted to rob a Midwood liquor store wearing a mask and a gun. During the robbery, he demanded the jewelry off of a woman in the store who turned out to be the girlfriend of the clerk, Yoseph Robinson. Robinson tried to stop Klass, leading to a struggle in which he was fatally shot.

Klass was arrested the following week.

Robinson himself was a beloved and inspirational figure, having been a repentant Jamaican-born drug dealer who converted to Orthodox Judaism. His death sparked a tremendous outpouring of support from Brooklyn’s Jewish community, and more than 1,000 people attended his funeral.

Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Neil Firetog also slapped Klass with 10 years for an unrelated robbery, in which Klass clubbed a man over the head and beat him before stealing jewelry and a cell phone. Klass will serve those 10 years concurrently.

Police are hunting for the three individuals photographed above. All three are wanted in connection to a grand larceny.

The theft happened on Friday, November 30, in front of 2214 Avenue R.

While the looting situation has not been that bad in Sheepshead Bay compared to other hard hit neighborhoods, we haven’t been spared completely.

Greenlawn Bungalow Colony resident Bruce Z. wrote to us, “There has been looting here every night. I put this in front of my bungalow.”

I sure do hope it helps. And I hope no one steals the skeleton.

A feisty 74-year-old Gravesend man, Joseph Mizrahi, held his own when attempting to protect his Lower East Side clothing shop from a brutal thug.

Mizrahi’s Delancy Street-based store, Richies, was the target of the mugger, described as tall and about 25 years in age in a New York Post report.

Mizrahi collected his weekly earnings and stepped out onto the street when the crook locked him in a choke hold and threw him to the ground. Mizrahi, who suffered minor injuries to his elbow and knee, got up and scrambled to tackle the mugger who was trying to make off with two bags filled with $50,000 in cash and credit card receipts.

Mizrahi managed to slow the thief down by tearing one of the bags open, scattering the money, which caused the thief to try and recover what he could before bolting.

The suspect has not yet been apprehended.

Neighbors and bank customers clamored for information yesterday, as police converged on the TD Bank at 1602 Avenue U, taped off its entrance, and stayed on scene for most of the day following an overnight robbery committed by a daring thief.

According to reports, at least one robber accessed the roof of Medical Plaza P.C. at 2101 East 16th Street – right next door to TD Bank – opened a hatch, and descended into the business on a rope. The thief then busted through one of the walls to TD Bank and ransacked the bank’s safe deposit vault, stealing from multiple boxes.

The break-in wasn’t discovered until Monday morning, when employees opened up and found the mess, according to the Daily News. Fearing that the robber was still inside, police responded quickly – but the thief had escaped through the same roof hatch next door long before anyone arrived at the bank.

Police suspect more than one person participated in the robbery, reports the New York Post.

Neither the bank nor authorities have disclosed the amount of safe deposits accessed, or the total value of the goods taken.

Investigators were still on scene late into the evening, and one reader who lives adjacent to Medical Plaza P.C. said detectives visited them and other neighbors as they canvassed for potential leads.

Police officers flooded Sheepshead Bay’s commercial corridors on Sunday, going door-to-door to inform business owners of a murderer believed to be targeting convenience stores in a bloody spree that has already left two dead.

The man they’re looking for, pictured above, is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, 5-foot-9 and with a medium build.

The suspect’s most recent alleged victim is Isaac Kadare, found brutally killed in his Bensonhurst 99-cent store on August 2. The discovery of Kadare’s body was first reported by Bensonhurst Bean. Media reports later confirmed that two customers found Kadare on the floor of the store at approximately 8:45 p.m., and that Kadare had been stabbed in the throat and shot in the head.

Over the weekend, NYPD ballistics teams linked Kadare’s murder with the July 6 murder of Mohammed Gebeli in his Bay Ridge clothing store, Valentino Fashion. Both men were shot in the head in their shops with what’s believed to be the same .22 caliber gun.

According to the New York Post, police sources are exploring the possibility that the suspect is a serial killer, targeting businesses with the numbers 1, 7 and 8 in their street addresses – Kadare’s store was located at 1877 86th Street, while Gebeli’s was at 7718 5th Avenue. However, they acknowledge that the addresses could be simply be a coincidence, and are looking at other motivations, such as ethnic hatred.

Police are offering a $12,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Additionally, Senator Marty Golden is offering $5,000 and Councilman David Greenfield, along with the Sephardic Community Federation, are offering up another $5,000.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers. All callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous. Callers should use the reference number BK-2303 when calling. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-577-TIPS, via the website, or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
