Sheepshead Bites' sticker

You asked for it, now you’re getting it!

We’re throwing the first official Sheepshead Bites meetup party THIS SATURDAY at Grillin’ On The Bay, the city’s only sanctioned BBQ competition.

Come chill with us at our table indoors and pick up your FREE SHEEPSHEAD BITES STICKER (while supplies last), meet your fellow readers and the people behind the site.

And, of course, eat your brains out! RUB BBQ will be selling food at the event, and Chelsea Brewing Co. is supplying the beer.

For those who want a say in the competition there’s a People’s Choice Chili Smackdown – $10 makes you a judge and gets you ALL YOU CAN EAT CHILI.

Editor Ned Berke is going to be behind-the-scenes as a BBQ judge for most of the event, but he’ll be hitting the Sheepshead Bites table when he can. And for those who stick around afterwards (and are of age), perhaps we’ll grab a few drinks!

Come join us! Stickers, food, cool people, drinks, sun – TOTAL AWESOMENESS!!!

Date: Saturday, March 27, 2010
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: St. Mark’s Schoolyard – Avenue Z and East 18th Street

We at Sheepshead Bites are very sociable people (not really). So it should come as no surprise (actually, it’s very surprising) that we receive invitations to cool events and offers all the time (almost never). For example, just recently we got invited to see the Brooklyn Cyclones game this Wednesday, July 15, at Coney Island’s Keyspan Park for just $2.

But wait, there’s more! The invitation is extended to all of our awesome readers by the event’s organizers, the NYMeetup group. Tickets include a hot dog, a soda, and – for the early birds – a batting helmet (first 2,500 at the park). Sure, it’s the bleachers – but where in New York can you get a hot dog and coke for $2?!

Tickets are expected to sell out quickly, so be sure to head over to NYMeetup’s page, find out the details, and confirm your spot ASAP. Oh, and drop us a line if you’re going – ’cause we’ll be there, too!
