NextGen Vape Shop, a new business dedicated to e-cigarettes and liquid nicotine vaporizers, has opened at 2417 Avenue U, the former location of Kings County Divers.
The store opened its doors within the last few days. It’s the first vape shop we know of that has opened in the area, and, as we previously reported, another one is headed to Sheepshead Bay Road.
Although both stores seem to be positioning their vapeware as their primary offering, they both also have signs that say “smoke shop,” which suggests tobacco, glassware and accessories.
The business is replacing Kings County Divers, which closed in February after 40 years serving the community.
Our friends at Arbuz tell us they’re set to have a new neighbor, Life Made A Little Easier, a head shop slated to replace Luv My Vision Optique on Sheepshead Bay Road.
A banner went up at the 1702 Sheepshead Bay Road storefront on Friday, advertising it as a “Smoke-Vape-Novelty Shop.” A little online sleuthing (really, very little), shows that it’s the latest branch of a Staten Island business established in 2012 that sells pipes, electronic cigarettes and vaporizers, and assorted knick-knacks for the smoking/faux-smoking enthusiast.
The storefront itself has been empty since December, when Luv My Vision closed down a year and a half (and a hurricane) after opening.
A year-and-a-half and a hurricane after opening, Luv My Vision Optique has closed down its 1702 Sheepshead Bay Road storefront.
The business opened in April 2012, and quickly set up a second location at 302 Brighton Beach Avenue in October.
The Brighton Beach storefront remains open.
Thanks to Rovshan and our friends at Arbuz for tipping us off to this.
Some local businesses expand faster than others, and Luv My Vision Optique, the high-end eyewear vendor that opened at 1702 Sheepshead Bay Road in April, wasted no time: they opened a second location in Brighton Beach in September.
We got our first glance of it last week when we snapped this photo of their new storefront at 302 Brighton Beach Avenue. The business celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting on September 14.
Good to see local businesses doing well enough to expand so quickly. Way to go, Luv My Vision, and good luck on the new venture.

In February we reported that Galit Couture, a bridal dress and evening wear designer that occupied the corner of 1702 Sheepshead Bay Road for more than a decade, “has packed up its frilly goods and high-tailed it over to Shat On Staten Island.”
Ned speculated that the location was freed up to become yet another “sushi restaurant. Perhaps a cell phone store. Maybe even a pharmacy!” Ding, ding, ding — incorrect.
In short time, the corner location was gutted and transformed into a bright and modern-looking eyeglass store called “Luv My Vision Optique.” According to the sign in their window, they’re also hiring, so if you’re seeking retail employment, give them a call at (718) 648-4200.
Welcome to the ’hood, Luv My Vision. We wish you all the best.
