SOS Pharmacy, located in the heart of Sheepshead Bay at 1201 Avenue Z, is that pharmacy. And management is slashing prices as a thank you to neighbors for welcoming them to the community.

SOS Pharmacy, a pharmacy and natural health store, will soon open at 1201 Avenue Z, the former location of Chicken Masters.

We first reported that a pharmacy would open at the location in March 2012, when the building sold for $1.2 million. Chicken Masters remained open at the time, and finally closed up shop in September. Owner Vinnie Mazzone said he threw in the towel after 30 years because the city had made it too difficult to operate a small business due to excessive fines and regulations.

The pharmacy now has signage and a “Coming Soon” announcement in the window. Looking through the glass, one can also see what appears to be a rather swanky, upscale storefront.

Welcome to the neighborhood, SOS Pharmacy.

A sign hangs in the newly constructed glass storefront of Munchinette, at 1738 Sheepshead Bay Road, proudly declaring that the business will reopen soon.

The eatery – with its smoothies, wraps, sandwiches and protein shakes – has been closed ever since Superstorm Sandy flooded the corridor. Although we haven’t spoken to the owner since the storm, we know he has been planning to give the entire place a facelift for several years.

The new space is already looking good, with the storefront’s walls built out all the way to its property line, adding a bit of space. We, and hundreds of Bally’s members, I’m sure, are looking forward to their reopening.

Nature’s Emporium, otherwise known as Nature’s Apothecary, is moving to a new, larger location at 1612 East 16th Street, around the corner from their 1601 Kings Highway home. They will continue to carry vitamins, natural products, and  will now add fresh juice and a deli counter to their inventory.
