If you are looking for a taste of the Sweet Life, you should head over to Avenue U. A new store offering ice cream, cupcakes, candies and other delicious sweets is taking over the spot once occupied by “U Sun Shine” Carpet and Furniture at 2106A Avenue U.
That bright and beautiful sign sure makes whatever they are selling seem really delectable.

After little more than a year and a half in business, Cupcake Kings at 1613 Voorhiees Avenue has served its last icing smothered dough ball to Sheepshead Bay residents.
The business closed up shop last week, just months after the original owners sold it off to new management (they kept a minority role in it, I’m told).
It’s a darn shame. Good memories with Cupcake Kings, which opened in November 2010. They provided some of the treats at Sheepshead Bites’ third birthday party last year. And there was also that cupcake eating contest where they accused one of Sheepshead Bites’ contestants of being a ringer. And, well, Ferrero Rocher cupcakes, people!
Well, good luck to all those involved with making Cupcake Kings. We look forward to your future endeavors.
The gents over at Cupcake Kings (1613 Voorhies Avenue) sent over a photo of these special St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes they’re dishing out. You know, for those of you who enjoy your food smiling and looking at you as you sink your teeth in. If you tip, they have someone hiding behind the counter who will scream, “No! Don’t eat me! Noooo!” in an Irish brogue as you devour the little bastard.
That’s not true, but it would be hilarious.

“How many points do you think are in this?” a customer asked.
Lady, the only points that matter here are brownie points.
Cupcake Kings, the decadent sweets shop at 1613 Voorhies Avenue, just off of Sheepshead Bay Road, opened its doors today. With rows of kaleidoscopic cupcakes taunting the tastebuds, it’s certainly no place to be counting Weight Watchers points.
And here’s the best part: to celebrate their opening, owners are giving out free cupcakes today only, from 4 p.m. until their 10 p.m. closing. With at least one person marking the hours left until the giveaway on Facebook, you better arrive sooner rather than later, because owners are expecting an early rush.

Is Sheepshead Bay ready for its own gourmet cupcake vendor? Well, at least two locals and hundreds of Facebook fans think so.
Signs went up for Cupcake Kings at 1613 Voorhies Avenue (off Sheepshead Bay Road) weeks ago, but little information was available other than “Coming Soon!” Then the owners wrote to us about their plans.
