MatchPoint NYC, the enormous new sports and recreation complex that replaced the Brooklyn Racquet Club at 2781 Shell Road, is bringing one of the world’s top female tennis players, Dinara Safina,to the neighborhood for a meet-and-greet and exhibition match during their spring tennis festival this Sunday.

Safina, a Russian native, is an Olympic medal winner, as well as a former World Number 1-ranked player, as is her brother, Marat Safin. She retired in 2012 due to an injury, freeing up her time to inspire kids at appearances like this one.

At the free tennis festival and kids day, Safina will conduct a mini-clinic, play a doubles exhibition match, sign autographs and take photos with attendees.

The day’s activities on Sunday, May 18, run from 11:30 a.m to 2:00 p.m. and include fun stations, on-stage entertainment, raffles and prize giveaways.
