We first told you about Jumpin’ Bean, a new Mexican restaurant slated for 3081 Emmons Avenue, way back in early October. At the time, they had planned to open just a few weeks later.

Then Sandy hit. The entire interior needed to be redone, and all kitchen equipment replaced (the kitchen, mind you, is a few steps below street level).

It took some time, but the restaurant quietly opened its doors on Wednesday, and has asked us to spread the word to our readers.

On a related note, V & S Pizzeria on Emmons, and Munchinette and Delmar’s Pizzeria on Sheepshead Bay Road are all now open as well. Istanbul on Emmons Avenue should be opening any day now, if it’s not already.

I’m going to go get a margarita to celebrate the recovery!

Stopped by Jumpin’ Bean tonight. I know they are only open for a few days now but there is no excuse for the ridiculously small sizes of the dishes. The food did taste good but I won’t be rushing back here any time soon.

Aldi’s on Nostraand Avenue seems to be progressing nicely but two big storefronts on the Avenue near V are now vacant, including landmark Big Daddy’s Appliance Store on the corner. And the once-upon a time Martin’s Marque room is just a ghost town. Why are these shops so vacant.?

Went there after reading this Friday night. The place was crowded! I don’t think they were expecting a crowd that large since they just opened, but that is a GOOD problem to have. The flaming cheese apetiser was great…and WOW .. great Sangria…nice kick to it!

Went there for early dinner with husband. The enchiladas were delicious, and service polite and helpful. Will definitely visit again!

I really had such high hopes for this place, but was severely disappointed, as were the rest of the people in my party, and from what i could tell, so were a few others in tables around us, including one couple who got up and left after they were served 55 minutes after placing their order. Save your time and money and stay FAR away, unless you like extremely slow service, clueless staff, and e-coli from the undercooked -actually RAW – food, as well as stale tortilla chips (I think there were only about 10 of them on a dish with a minute portion of some horrible tasting salsa).
