Brighton Beach Avenue and Coney Island Avenue (Source: Google Maps)

UPDATE (1:00 p.m.): Kingsborough Community College just released the following statement, noting that it was a slashing, not a stabbing:

At approximately 10:45 a.m., an argument ensued between two Kingsborough Community College (KCC) students at Coney Island and Brighton Avenues as they waited for a bus to transport them to the college.  The argument continued and escalated after they boarded the bus.  One of the arguing students slashed the other with an instrument, causing superficial wounds.  The victim was taken to Lutheran Hospital for evaluation and the suspect fled and is being sought by police. We are awaiting a report on the medical status of the student taken to the hospital and a report from Police on the status of the search for the suspect.

UPDATE (12:01 p.m.): According to sources, the stabbing slashing is the result of an altercation between two Kingsborough Community College students. The students were either on or boarding a yellow school bus that serves as a shuttle to the school from the subway station. The bus is still on the scene. The victim has been transported to the hospital.

The suspect, described as a male in his mid-20s, 5’5″, wearing a black jacket and red hoodie, has not yet been apprehended, but sources say police know his identity and home address.

Original post:

We just received a note that a male was stabbed slashed in the neck twice, near the intersection of Coney Island Avenue and Brighton Beach Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. Police have established a crime scene, and EMS is requested to rush to the scene.

Calls over the scanner indicate the suspect may have fled westbound on the boardwalk.

I wonder if he went through a background check to buy that knife. We need to do something about all these assault knives that are flooding our streets.

If he had a gun, the victim would be dead. Why do you have problems with the second amendment? You know the well regulated part…

I dont know for a fact that he would be dead from a gun shot wound, most people do not die from gun shots. I have no problem with 2A i like it just the way it is especially the part that says shall not be infringed. By the way my comment was sarcasm.

No, see that’s not true. Gun owners who comply with laws to purchase, and carry their firearms, are absolutely the most courteous and well mannered citizens. Look up how many criminal (non-defense) shootings have been committed by legal firearm owners.

I’m not going to weigh in how I feel about different shades of gun control. However,, the historical discussions that took place concerning the 2nd Amendment were to protect people against a corrupt government (which the Americans had just overthrown, in their opinion).

Had the 2nd Amendment meant that weapons should be controlled solely by the govt, it would have been included in the Amendment which discusses the government’s control of the military, which I believe is part of the 1st amendment, oddly enough.. So, I disagree with your interpretation.

Even though I’m a conservative, I’m not a big fan of following literally a document that’s 230 years old. It makes little sense to me. So to me the entire discussion of the 2nd Amendment is kind of moot. There were no assault rifles when Jefferson and Madison were pondering the situation!

No such thing as an assault rifle.

Come on, you get my point.

          • Local Broker

I understand what you are saying but i don’t agree with it. The term “assault weapon” is a made up term by anti gun groups that know nothing about guns in the first place.

It wasn’t necessarily a knife…it was “an instrument.” As a former KBCC student, I think there isn’t enough security as there should be in the school. I would like to think that security will improve from here on. It seriously takes an unfortunate incident, for there to be affirmative action.

I know what you’re doing. You’re subtly trying to generalize all KBCC students from this one incident. Don’t do that. It was one guy.

      Top-notch ignorance right there.

      @Microshock:disqus you are correct.

@facebook-779169760:disqus Sir, please refrain from acting like a snob.

Assault knives? Lol..really? A serrated kitchen knife would of been worse then just about anything….and u can’t outlaw cutlery. And brighton is far from a ghetto I must say, I bet both of those individuals live no where near brighton. Stop being ignorant people, its inevitable…u wanna prevent more crime? Get more cops out on the street. End of story

i’m not condoning violence or belittling the situation but this was a fight between two young adults and it didnt turn into a melee

If that applied to every day life, we would have a rather violent society wouldn’t we?

The parents of the slasher will sue the bus company, the school, the police, and the city for failing to prevent their child from slashing.
