The following is a message from Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz, whose Sheepshead Bay Road district office was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy:

As many of you know, my district office on Sheepshead Bay Road was not immune to the ravages of Sandy.

Since we’re so close to the bay, we experienced the same flooding, damage and loss of electricity as our neighbors on Sheepshead Bay Road and Emmons Avenue.

Despite this unexpected detour, we’ve been working full-speed-ahead to help constituents every day since the storm occurred, dealing with the urgent needs of residents and businesses by phone and email and getting the word out about the many services and programs available to assist those affected by Sandy.

I’m pleased to announce that my staff and I will once again be able to help you face to face. This Monday, November 19th, I’ll be opening a temporary community office at 2658 Coney Island Avenue (between Avenues W and X).

The office will be open Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number remains unchanged – (718) 743-4078.

Constituents can always email me at cymbros@assembly.state.ny.us. Please note that regular mail should still be sent to the old address at 1800 Sheepshead Bay Road, Brooklyn, NY 11235. It will be transferred to our interim address.

I’m planning to re-open my Sheepshead Bay Road office as soon as repairs are completed. Until then, I look forward to seeing you in my temporary space. It serves as one more indication that we’re moving forward together to recover from Sandy.

Please let us know if we can help you in any way.

And PS….Why aren’t our officials visiting stricken areas in person? Send a rep? Gosh, even the President made a show for support.
A face to face is nice…bring it. Maybe if everyone had electric they would e-mail. Sheesh.

QUESTION: How come whenever you call the 6lst precinct, you get a pre recorded message and no one ever comes to the phone to help you. Many find this unacceptable and I agree.
