A child was struck by a car at approximately 3:00 p.m. today while crossing Avenue Y at East 19th Street, reports tipster Allan Shweky.

A witness told Shweky that the boy was crossing from the south side and was hit by a vehicle going eastbound.

hope everything is ok. either the boy ran through the middle of the street without looking, or the driver was going at 65 mph. i used to live just a block from there and i lost count of the total number of accidents happening around there.

Damn kids should watch where they are going

Hope the kid is ok…the drivers need to watch how they’re driving ESPECIALLY around a school….probably busy texting or on the phone…

Maybe the kid was too busy texting, not paying attention, and not crossing at the corner.  It’s not always the drivers fault!

True, but I’ve seen the speed of cars going down Avenue Y. They should observe the speed limit, even if there are pedestrians darting around. It’s not a question of “I was right, they were wrong”, it’s a question of maybe avoiding an accident.
