Kingsborough Community College (2001 Oriental Boulevard) was named one of the 10 best community colleges in the nation, and is in the running to win $1 million if they take home the number one ranking from The Aspen Institute.

The Aspen Institute put Kingsborough on their top 10 list after examining such factors as graduation rate, diversity, job placement and a variety of other criteria.

“I’m so excited,” said Kingsborough President Regina Peruggi, who told the New York Daily News that it is “recognition for the kind of hard work that’s been done at this institution for years.”

Kingsborough was the only school from New York State to make the list. In October, Aspen officials will visit each campus of the selected schools to determine which of the institutions will have an extra $1 million added to their budgets.

Peruggi stated that, if Kingsborough wins, she’ll spend the money on student scholarships and teacher development.

You are so not kidding!  Today’s kids are dumb enough – and the very sad thing is (I heard this on the news last week) – the school systems are lowering passing grades from 70 to 65.  Doesn’t that give you good feelings about the future of our country with all these dumbasses as our future leaders?

Just because you were imprisoned at one of the best prisons in the entire country doesn’t make you a lesser criminal.

I went there and I was neither!

You gotta be fricken kidding me.  It is a junior college with it’s own private beach.  The nickname for KCC is Kingsborough Country Club.  Hey everyone, I don’t know how many of you know it, but an Associates Degree is considered a non degree in the real business world.

This place, one of the 10 best????  Ah hahahahahah!  I think not!

“The Aspen Institute put Kingsborough on their top 10 list after examining such factors as graduation rate, diversity, job placement and a variety of other criteria.”Ehm, diversity? How is that important? If too many white folk walking about, it ain’t no good school?

Kudos to KCC! Nonetheless, it’s selection, speaks more to the state of all education, and the value of the mind, in our nation, than anything else. And please don’t blame our current students or educators, who live in a society where being educated, and the respect it once garnered, has increasingly lost its’ luster, over the years. People forget, that Richard Hofstadter wrote the Pulitzer Prize winning book, “Anti-Intellectualism in American Life!” In 1955! When educated people, were highly thought of! Had he only knew, what was coming?!
