We just got word from reader Ilan S. that firefighters are responding to a call at Marine Park’s Frank’s Pizza, located at 2134 Flatbush Avenue on the corner of Quentin Road.

From the photo Ilan sent in, it looks like a lot of firefighters came out. You can see several checking on conditions on the roof. We’re hoping the lack of thick, black plumes of smoke suggests the pizzeria will make a quick recovery, and no one was hurt in this incident.

We’ll let you know if we hear anything new.

This is a breaking news story and may contain inaccuracies. We will update it as more information becomes available. If anyone has more information or additional photos, please send them to tips (at) sheepsheadbites (dot) com.

Was just about to go in for lunch there when (I guess) the manager and workers ran and out up a ladder to the roof. He then went up with a water hose to try and put the fire out. It looked like a grease fire in the vent. Then about a dozen fire trucks came within minutes and took over. Looks like they will have some water damage as they were up on the roof with the hose for about 10 minutes. Didn’t see any injuries. For lunch we went across the street to the Oasis and had a front row seat.

Oasis is good also, but not when you’re craving pizza.  I have always enjoyed Oasis – was that tall, extremely loud and crazy waiter there today?  He always makes me laugh.  Hope you enjoyed your lunch!

I think I know who you mean. But yes, had a good “Italian hambuger and fries”. Hope Franks reopens soon.

I was there today also, just like Whwsailboat.  I was joansing for a slice from Franks.  It could not come from anywhere else, because I don’t really care for any of the pizzarias in this neighborhood. There were no firemen there when I arrived, but a sign in the window told me the story.
