Morning Mug: Dugout Noir

If there was such a genre in fiction as “sports horror,” then this would make a great book cover for a sports horror novel. I could see it now: Stephen King penning a thriller about a demonically-possessed little league team from a century ago coming back from the dead to reclaim a championship title that was unjustly stolen from them. Wes Craven could direct the film adaptation.

  1. Should I be concerned? The fact that someone types the word “do” eight times and I can automatically fill in the melody and get an image of Rod Serling holding a cigarette, saying, “Submitted for your approval, a chain-link baseball backstop on a winter’s day in Brooklyn…”

  2. It could be titled, “Sandlot Demons.”
Or the opposite of the 1994 film “Angels in the Outfield”–“Devils on the Infield.”

FYI, ES, you must have ESP: Yesterday, announced King has a new eBook project. On August 21, 2012, Scribner and Simon & Schuster Audio will release “A Face in the Crowd,” an original, baseball-themed collaboration between King and author Stewart O’Nan.
Do do do do, do do do do….
