Travel Channel foodie Anthony Bourdain announced over the weekend that he had finished filming the final episode of his highly successful “No Reservations” TV show, and he chose local staple Jay & Lloyds at 2718 Avenue U to wrap up the show’s run.

Bourdain will be moving from from the Travel Channel to host a weekly show on CNN next year, according to the New York Post.

“I’m really looking forward to coming over to CNN. I think the world is going to get a whole lot bigger for me,” said Bourdain in a CNN release. “I hope that old fans and new ones will be excited about what’s coming down the road.”

He later tweeted that he’s excited to travel to “Congo? Libya? Finally?”

Looks like pastrami on rye in Sheepshead Bay is no match for the fare available in war-torn Africa. Or, heck, maybe he was trying to get a bite of some of the city’s best pastrami before chowing down on tarantulas and dung-beetles.

I assume this happened already :-( I wonder if it was today, since he was on Opie and Anthony this morning.

It was last week sometime. Someone called Ron N’ Fez reporting (inaccurately I guess) that he was at Roll N’ Roaster.

People who eat bugs… how do they do it? Is there no gag factor for them? I think I’d sooner saw off a limb than eat an exotic cockroach, fried silkworm or tea made from bug poop.

That’s the way some people feel about snails — so they call it ESCARGOT and love ‘em.

I call ‘em snails and love ‘em. Especially in some black bean sauce. Mmmm…

However, not a huge fan of escargot. Weird, right?

The French eat snails because they don’t like fast food.

    Hey people,
I think you have him mixed up with the other, I EAT ANYTHING type show with Andrew Zimernan?

Incidentally, Bourdain was down at the Bay last week, eating in Liman.   I wish him the very best of luck.   We enjoyed his show immensely.

Na, he eats some pretty gross stuff, too, Anthony Bourdain.

Nothing as disgusting as Andrew Z though.

Wow – a punk-era foodie chef comes to Sheepshead Bay to eat kosher food…and in an episode that will feature at least one actor from the Wire (Michael K Williams – OMAR COMIN’ YO!)….it’s like almost everything I hold dear all wrapped into one thing…the only thing missing would be some astronomy.

Wait, what? No one told me Omar was in the area, too. I would’ve been there in half a sec if I knew Omar comin’, yo.

the Bay is fast becoming a FOODIE mecca …  don’t know whether this is a good thing or a bad one.  Would love to see our great restaurants get some much needed biz BUT I fear that, with all this Publicity prices for pastrami on Rye will go through the roof.
