• We’ve just received a tip that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Ocean Avenue and Avenue X.

A woman was crossing the intersection when a car hit her. Ambulances have arrived on scene and are transporting her to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.

This is a breaking news story and may contain inaccuracies. We will update it as more information becomes available. If anyone has more information or additional photos, please send them to tips (at) sheepsheadbites (dot) com.

Might sound ridiculous, but it might be in the city’s interest to create a powerful educational campaign targeting drivers to slow down and be more careful, and targeting pedestrians to obey traffic laws and lights as well when crossing streets. This type of scenario is getting out of hand in our area.

who has time for that? those drivers who speed are on a time crunch and have to be some far fast. they dont time to watch some video.

As if pedestrians, who are too much in a rush to be waiting around for the light to turn green, have any time to spare for some video.

oh yeah, pedestrians are crashing their strong legs into the drivers  cars, severely damaging such cars. Reminds me of the Woody Allen line how he dealt with a mugger: “I snapped my chin right into his fist”….

Yeah, there are bad pedestrians. But i’m sick of hearing here and elsewhere that people actually are  trying to “morally  equate” a bad pedestrian with a speedy driver. Get off it. It’s ridiculous.

Morally equate? Defensive much? I’ve made no such comparison, merely pointed out that there are bad habits on all sides. Anyway perhaps one day, when you get your license, you’ll find yourself swerving to avoid a pedestrian who was crossing on a red… You might even find out that swerving causes you to (hopefully) nearly hit other cars/pedestrians.

Ive had a license for a long time. Used to drive.dont anymore. I’d be scared to, with all the crazy drivers. It wouldn’t be the pedestrians I’d be scared of, that s for sure.

When one jumps in front of you when you got the green or be cause he’s not watching the road when crossing in the middle of the street and you gotta swerve… He won’t be liable when you hit another car (or another pedestrian). He will be long gone.

I got kidnapped one day. My parents snapped into action. They rented my room…

In a hurry? I’ve almost been hit by guys “in a hurry” to make a right, then pulling up 10 feet down the block to wait for someone to come out of the building. Or else they’re rushing madly home to sit on the couch, drink beer, and watch American Idol.

first i would like to say speedy recovery to the people who got hit.  secondly i would like to say to pedestrians, dont cross a street and expect drivers to slow down if they have the clear road because sometimes the car wont stop, and waiting 10 seconds for car to pass is better then 10 weeks in hospital

I saw on another hyper-local site that the person was not injured seriously.
