Photos: Fire Rips Through J&M Pizzeria On Avenue U

PayPaul sent in the photos and the following report, which seems to say it all:

Before 6:30 a.m. today there was a fire at the J&M Pizzeria on 14th Street and Avenue U. 2 Ladder trucks, 2 fire engines and a tanker truck were on the scene this morning with the addition of at least 2 more smaller fire vehicles, the Fire Marshall and 2 police cars. Residents on the second and third story of the building on that corner had their windows broken and I presume they were evacuated. It wasn’t apparent if anyone was injured as no ambulances were on the scene. The restaurant was gutted and a Chinese Herbal shop was damaged.

We’ll let you know if J&M will reopen anytime soon, but the prospects don’t look too great right now.

        However i think the pay will be either in food, pats on shoulder :)

          Hmm. I’ll take food or the loan of a DSLR once and awhile.

          Not that my camera and a bit of software processing can’t produce decent results but I’d like to see what I can do with some real good glass.

        That, unfortunately goes with the territory when stores are side by side. It’s sad but the damage to that store didn’t seem to be anywhere near as total as what happened to J&M.

    i have a feeling alot of businesses are giveing it until christmas and they will accidently go up in flames also,but all jokes aside after xmas there will be a HUGE spike in closeings,most small electronic stores will be shuttered for sure because i no for a fact that radio shack will be selling BELOW there cost price for the holidays and spend a ton on advertiseing in a direct atempt to rid the small guys..and it will work

    This does not sound right to me.  How can a store go on fire in the morning after closing for the night this should be investagated.

    I was there last week they were selling $1 slices… Now the place burnt down? Shady I say shady.

      They always sell slices for $1 on Monday and Tuesdays

    The media needs to cover this. I love the pizza.there and the people are great. Seemed like business was good So I doubt this is any fraud. People are you complaining about $1.00 pizza.?? Smh

      It’s a bit upsetting there’s no $1 pizza to be had there. A lot of those $1 pizzas have been popping up all over the city. I had one today and it was hot, gooey and good. A little smaller than the usual slice but still very tasty and fresh.
