The owners of Pizza Cardo, at 1730 Jerome Avenue, opened its doors to customers yesterday, offering a kosher menu of pizza, pasta, salads and wraps.

The business replaces Benny’s Gourmet, another kosher pizzeria, which closed in May after three years. It has all new owners and management, but the website advertised on the sign doesn’t appear to be up and running yet.

I have had the pizza from Mill Basin….it’s damn good. Kosher, I could care less, but good.
If there is no meat they can use real cheese mutz. The choices are endless. Eggplant, vegetable stuffed lasagna, garlic everything…LOL. Now I want pizza.

Kosher pizza in sheepsheadbay is a bad idea. Delmars rules that area.

I agree that it is a bad idea – we don’t (as far as I know) have that many religious people who would patronize a kosher pizza place.  Besides, Kosher pizza is horrible.  The cheese is different.  Its not creamy and tasty like mozerella.  I wish them well though – hope they do well.

actually my dear Watson you are wrong. Bennys on ave J has amazing pizza.

I never heard of Benny’s.  That is OK though, because I go to Bay Ridge for my pizza.  Rocco’s on 5th has amazing pizza.  The other food there, it isn’t the greatest, but you gotta trust me on the pizza.

Very, very tough block to get anything off the ground.  The food has to be good enough that it gets recommended and costumers specifically seek it out.  This would be a good location for a bar but there is a catholic school right there.

It’s true. That location is a tough one. Then again, isn’t it right across the street from the post office? That should count for something… I should try it.

Yeah the post office is there, but many people who go to the post office, Russian and Chinese senior citizens don’t eat pizza.  Plus if its Kosher, Saturday’s are out.

    Dear Pizza Cardo,
Look at my avatar. Now looka’ here. Let me tell you few, three things. You make pizza better than Delmar and you own Sheepshead Bay. Do you understand what I’m saying? The oven must be hot, sauce fresh and zesty. Cheese…walk in to Connie’s and order a slice. This is not the kind of cheese you use. Their is science to cheese, I can’t teach you complexity of cheese online, but explore  NY upstate dairy farms for cheese than will make snobby French gourmand cry. Note, French don’t know shit about mozzarella curd. But they made science out of brie. How about brie pizza??? It has been done.

The point is, if you don’t make perfection of pizza no one will be your costumer. We know pizza here and we will not tolerate anything else than divine, perfect, heavenly pizza.

    Delmar- I love you guess.

    Delmar is AMAZING .

    Dear critics,

Being a pizza lover myself and going from eating nonkosher all my life to beginning to only eat kosher recently, I cant attest that this pizza is as good as Delmar, Grimaldi’s and Knapp St 2.  The prices are extremely reasonable for the location and kosher aspect and please do not mistake Pizza Cardo with the predecessor.

    Thanks

      • foodlover

Great pizza. Visited yesterday when I was walking from the train. Their vodka slice is divine. Kosher pizza can be good if made right and these guys know how to do it.
