It took me a while to notice, but Grill Master at 1520 Sheepshead Bay Road went out of business earlier this month. It was the only place on Sheepshead Bay Road that sold Latin food, but it’s no surprise it couldn’t survive; it simply wasn’t very good.

Regardless, the store is back up for rent after about two years of Grill Master. Before that was similarly short-lived Hosta Gyro.

It’s a very small space, probably best-suited to the kind of take-out joints that have occupied it for several years now. What do you think should go there?

    Ned,

I am not one to judge but since when did you become a food critic. What gives you the right to say a place wasn’t good. How dare you call that place not good.

Ned is right.  I bought food there a couple of times and it really was NOT good at all.  The second chance was no better than the first.

What should go in to that place is really, really good Mexican food. Here’s simplest business plan for this place.
Step 1. Go to 295 Berry St, order everything on the menu at La Superior.
Step 2. Copy menu and recipes to the last grain of salt.
Step 3. Open shop at 1520 Sheepshead Bay Road.
    Step 4. ?
    Step 5. Profit.

        Yo Vin!!!
Hey everyone this is Vinny, we went to HS together. I know he is too shy to admit it but he was top 3% special ed student in SBHS. He is crazy smart, by the time he graduated he knew how to add, subtract, spell “red” and he only shitted himself twice in senior year!
It’s nice to see you Vin! I’m glad you figured out how to use the computer. Do you remember how you would chew on keyboard in typing class and kept on licking the mouse, insisting it’s vanilla ice cream sandwich?
Well nice to see you here Vinny. We have a lot catching up to do! Do you want to get together at Draft Bar? I’ll help you pour beer in your sippy cup.

I would love a book store, but guessing that something like bubble tea might be a
    good fit.

Seconded for bubble tea. I think it would be a perfect fit in that location. I know I’d pick some up by the train station before and after work.

Hmm… now to raise some capital.

What about “Top Soft Taco” place that is paired with a Chinese restaurant (a frequent combo, I remember frequenting a great Chinese/Cuban place on Court Street downtown a lifetime ago or so)?  I am no gourmet (more like a sewer, but whatever), but the place has an A rating and the food is pretty tasty.
