With the rains gone and the wind softened, some appear to believe it’s safe to go outside. Cars are on the road and pedestrians are in the streets. But the city is warning residents to stay indoors as tropical storm conditions return to the area.

Notify NYC just issued the following alert:

Notification issued 8/28/11 at 2:40 PM. The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for New York City. As Hurricane IRENE departs, maximum winds are still forecast to be in the 30-40 MPH range, with gusts up to 55 MPH through late afternoon. For more information visit: http://www.weather.gov/nyc.

Stay safe, and please don’t drive.

Here on Avenue V, at 6 pm, it is extremely windy, the trees are in a state of shake, rattle and almost roll.  I am concerned that trees will fall and we all lose power. Otherwise, I have to salute General Bloomberg for his stratergery and a big bronx cheer to readers who declared that “nuttin’ would happen”  It was a little more that “nuttin”      Did anyone other than me see President Markowitz riding “shotgun” in a WCBS tv war wagon crusing along Manhattan Beach and Emmons Avenue?  Every other phrase out of his mouth was some sort of religious incantation. My advice to Rabbi Marty, keep your religion to yourself.
