I was just securing things in my backyard like a good little storm trooper, when I noticed these buggers in the corner. It appears our local stray cat – a beautiful orange striped thing – gave birth to its litter in the past few days. Unfortunately for me, it chose my backyard to do so. I have a cat and cannot take these kittens in. They’re in the corner of my yard and will be exposed when the hurricane comes. We called a shelter and are awaiting a response – but I fear they’re not going to be able to take them in.

The mother is around, too, but she made haste when I disturbed these guys (it’s four or five of them, I think). Anyone who takes them in should be experienced with baby kittens and know what to do. If you can take them in, please call (347) 985-0633 or e-mail nberke [at] sheepsheadbites [dot] com.

I really hope someone can give these guys a chance. Thanks.

I would only be able to take them in after the hurricane, and one at the most. If I could still get one after sunday, I probably could.

Please contact Brooklyn Animal Foster Network if you would like one- these guys will be on the bottle for awhile, if you want to foster them ALL, and then pick one to keep, we will pay for the KMR to feed them, as well as get them vet care as their age allows. Please keep in mind someone will need to be home 24/7 until they are weaned!! If you want to adopt a kitten that is already weaned, or are willing to take on the bunch call 917-208-4496

If you could get them to Nebraska I would foster them all. The youngest kitten I’ve had was 3 weeks old. The poor things can’t be left out, they will surely die. Please don’t abandon them. Can you drop them off at a shelter, when you leave? justcats4me@aol.com

Did you get the mama kitty?  I’ve had to do this before and it took me a few days.  You may have to use a baby kitten at the end of the trap where you would usually put the food.  When she goes to get it and the trap closes she may trample the baby trying to get out though.

You may still be able to get her after the storm with food though and then re-unite them within a  day or two before her milk dries.

There is no “hurricane.”  It has already been downgraded to a tropical storm and when it passes by here it will be a bit of rain and wind.

where are you getting this info from?

    • http://www.brucebrodinsky.com Bruce B

just like Gloria in ’85. They told us to evacuate. by the time the “hurricane” hit NY, it was so weak that I saw some guy jogging along the Bay.

I love you.   Earlier I could not get on the site to thank you. THANK YOU for taking the time to come from park slope and save the bunny. I too wish the 4 ferrel cats would have been saved but that was added on when you got here. Thanks for trying but I know you can’t run through the streets after strays (though you did try).  Ned, you did good.
