For only $4,999,999, this can all be yours. Source: Curbed

Ever wish you could live in the lap of luxury, like, say, somewhere sophisticated on Central Park West, but hate that you wouldn’t have stunning vistas and easy access to the beach? Well, fret no more all you dreamers — for a scant almost $5 million, your real estate fantasies can surely come true.

In these troubled times, if dropping a cool $4,999,999 for a three bedroom, two bathroom Brighton Beach condo is no financial object for your bad affluent selves, has Prudential Douglas Elliman got a sweet deal for you, according to a post on Curbed:

Our brains short-circuited when we clicked on the listing for Penthouse 2A at 125 Oceana Drive East in Brighton Beach. The 3BR, 2BA condo that the listing describes as “the best oceanfront penthouse in Brooklyn” is also the most expensive property currently on the market in Brighton Beach, with an ask of, brace, $4,999,999. Because the $5 million psychological barrier is really the problem here.

So, do we have any takers? Any wanna-be Huguettes out there? And can someone please tell me what that thing is poking its head over the top of the lounge chair on the left. Because I have got no idea. It looks like an evil gargoyle.

I’ll need to open a pharmacy for about a year.
Then I’ll be able to afford it. : )

Got to give it to you! Good one!!! Most likely owners are Russians who own that pharmacy on sheepshead. LOL

Brighton Beach is dirty and disgusting. You’d have be stupid to pay 5 million dollars to live in filth.

and is it turns out, random people shoot guns shots in the air…..

well.. it’s not exactly brighton .. it’s oceana!! private closed-in community!

      • Kon

I know it’s Oceana. Oceana itself is nice inside it’s gated walls. But their key point of advertising is that it is a beach side property. The beach is where it gets most of its value, and the beach is crap.

        Well, pardon me sir.  LOL!

I always thought the same way.  Down that way (the higher # brighton streets), it’s really very nice.  These apartment complexes are kept clean and the streets around them also.  I was just down that way last Friday – had to go to the dr. on Brighton 15th and BB Avenue.  I was kind of shocked to see how nice that part of the neighborhood is. Still, I can’t see paying $5 mill for an apartment.

         The apartments are cheaply made

        • Barkingspider7

I got that impression from quite a few of the other comments.  It’s too bad.  When you pay a fortune,  either as a mortgage or rent, you should get quality.  The old adage is true, you can’t tell a book by it’s cover.  They do look nice though from the outside.

Its a game to find a sucker.
    Asking $5 million.
But, if you act now, get it for $1.9 million.
They hope to find an overseas buyer who will fall for the trap of thinking they got a $5 apartment for $1.9

    what are the taxes?

    Who is buying this? Mob?

    • Anonymous

Why… noooo .. a doctor or a small business owner

      • Anonymous

true story: a doctor called about a condo in the building across the street from where I live — when asked about what his occupation was, they proceeded to tell him that he could not afford anything in that building. amazing.

Like yah! My buddy Josh and I are so looking forward to purchasing this loft but we need to know where the nearest Connecticut muffin is first!

wow, glad it’s 4.999 million.  No way I’d consider it at 5 million. I’ll be there tomorrow to check it out….

Actually those are really nice buildings, I wouldn’t mind living there. But they’re sooooo overpriced!

I live in Oceana. renting… I would NOT recommend buying in this place. Stupid management rules… poor security …. and for $5mil… I do not know what those owners are smocking…..We have old lease and the price is not bad for 2Bed 2Bath compared to regular prices but investing in real estate  here? NEVER

very true. I went to camp here as a kid and now its a breeding ground for the dumbest spoiled brats on planet Earth, well at least Brighton Beach… There’s something fishy when 4 or more Bentley’s (a car which was so rare basically anywhere is seen so many times now, who can afford that? I’d say doctors but its more likely pharmacists from Sheepshead Bay…) are in one place. If I was a federal agent I’d have a field day on probable cause

  • JR

and for the 5 million… you’re likely a sucker to get it. I witnessed the Oceana getting built and it is shoddy construction but what do you expect when the materials were brought over from China in the building rush of the early 2000s… The funniest thing I like about the Oceana is that the ceilings are just under 10 feet and this in a penthouse? If you want a real Penthouse they’re supposed to have like 12 – 15 ft ceilings not 9’8″… there’s my bit

i do like Oceana, and if i had the dough, i would pro’lly buy it, but i would also need the $$$$$ for renovations and improvements, cuz the inside of the “pent house” apt, although  not awful, its not up to par for that kind of money.
I know drs who live in oceana, who cant afford that kind of property. one of the said drs is also very honest. which might be the reason y she cant afford the pent house.
