They’re Multiplying! Second MetroPCS Coming To Sheepshead Bay Road

Signs have gone up showing that a MetroPCS location will soon open at 1419 Sheepshead Bay Road, the former storefront of Alfa Vision, which moved to the corner at least a year ago.

The problem is that there already is a MetroPCS at 1710 Sheepshead Bay Road, and they don’t appear to be affiliated. We stopped in to ask when the move would be complete, and the counter-person was unaware that another location was opening up just two blocks away.

We’ve always joked about the inexplicably high number of cell phone stores along the road, but having two different franchisees selling the same phones on the same service with the same plans just seems a little bizarre. It’s like the local version of Manhattan’s Starbucks-on-every-corner fiasco.

That’s it… I’m offering investment funds for a stake in the soon-to-arrive cellphone-sushi-pharmacy storefront that’s bound to open up. I don’t know why, but I’m sure it’ll make a killing.

    Well, I personally enjoy having the option of being able to choose which Chase bank to go to — the one on East 18th & Jerome or the one a minute’s walk away on East 16th & Sheepshead Bay Road. Bless our eclectic ‘hood. Who needs silly book or houseware stores?

      Funny you should mention a houseware store on Sheepshead Bay Road. Look at the title of the photo. You’re so in synch with the way I think about things like  that.

            Just like the sushi places, They are all next to each other… and they serve the same shit.

            Shit?????  Those Sheepshead bay sushi places are the nutritional cornerstone for many people in the area.  I know that I work up an appetite every time I buy a cell phone and what better way to fulfill the craving then with a $2.50 Spicy Salmon Roll

          Ugh, email replies are apparently still broken. Top BRGR is a bit to expensive for the region. Maybe they’ll survive, maybe they wont, but 5 Guys would certainly make it.

    When I lived on Utica Avenue growing up we had 12 gas stations within a half-mile. Today, most of them have closed up. I think two remain.

    its across the street from the office bldng I work in, I just dont understand how business survives there, sushi/cell store is every other store……we”ll see how long this one lasts
