Sorry, lovers of greasy fried chicken and unconscionably decadent “sandwiches” – but our closest outlet to the Colonel’s special recipe is now shuttered.

Kentucky Fried Chicken at 2940 Avenue U (off the corner of Nostrand Avenue) closed for good yesterday. A banner hung from the establishment’s roof announcing that the location was permanently closed “due to lease expiration.”

This has us feeling a little bit like Kenny, but maybe a medicinal marijuana shop can open up and we’ll all bounce around on our hoppity-hop balls. Or maybe we’ll begin smuggling some into the neighborhood. Or maybe – well, more like “probably” – we’ll go to Chicken Masters and support a local business.

Yep. We just watched a whole bunch of South Park and got to call it “work.” Jealous much?

Chicken Masters = Best. Wings. Ever.

“Thank you for calling Chicken Masters — Vinnie speaking, how can I help you?” <— Always music to my ears, that.

Vinnie is the man. Chicken Masters is a great establishment and Vinnie works hard, I wish he gets all the KFC business.
Btw, do not confuse Chicken Masters Vinnie and Vinnie Boombatz who posts here. Boombatz is a very bad man, he is also very rude. I saw him once beat 2 guys on the train station and he curses a lot too. He also whistles at women and calls them sugar tits.

Don’t you call all women “Sugar Tits?”

        • Faba

Being raised by two mothers taught me otherwise. My Kenyan mother said “if you want to impress a girl be polite and attentive”. Her reticently new wife, Ruby, Australian Aborigine, who moved in with us 16 month ago said, if she catches me disrespecting women she will beat me with a chain first and then take my cojones. I’m not sure what that is but I think its Australian word for Xbox.

Vinny has really great chicken, but gives rolls – I like biscuits! To find a parking spot over there, is almost impossible.

Wow, you and I have some major league differences…. I couldn’t stand the place and I tried it 3 times. My girlfriend agreed, though her daughter likes the place.

  • Faba

Well, now we can’t buy chicken from KFC and watermelons from Pathmark…

Viva Chicken Masters! Except there is no parking any ware near it.

O.o Wonder how much Rent is over there.

Let me get this right. They spend all this money to set up a KFC, which requires architectural elements to make it recognizable, and yet they don’t buy the property. Ah, franchising can be such an iffy game. This franchisers may not be able to build another. If he could, then it is like he would take a rent increase.

I am assuming that the problem was a rent increase.

At the rate the synagogue across the street protested the KFC, I can only imagine how bizarre the rage would get regarding a nightclub – especially with those noise pollution laws that they’ve been kindly reminding us about down in Coney Island.

i went there a few weeks ago for pizza and discovered the pizza hut was gone (had to have chicken pot pie, the stomach can’t handle the KFC chicken anymore). Sorry to hear it’s gone, it was a good place to stop, eat a cheap meal, and read my book.

aww man what a bummer. i remember it used to be in a small building at the same corner. i went there all the time coming home kings plaza from 1996-2000. i saw that it moved in 2004. nowadays, i go to the KFC at Coney Island Avenue and Kings Highway because i live at the northwest corner of Sheepshead Bay and the B68 bus provides a quick trip to/from the restaurant

What do you mean at the same corner? Before this structure, the whole area was a gas station and car repair shop.

      • Barkingspider7

It was on the corner of nostrand and U on the other side of the street

I’m a bit confused, I thought that building was built specifically for them when they moved? How could they lose the lease?

Thank god this craphole is closed. Living up the block from it is nauseating in the summer as all you would smell is the fried greasy chicken oil, not to mention all the animals that would throw their garbage and bones out their car windows all over the street as they drove by. I know I won’t miss it. See ya!

  • Mrj656
