Maksim Gelman, suspect in stabbing of Aleksandr Kuznetsov

Maksim Gelman pleaded not guilty to stabbing a man on the 3 train during his two borough rampage last month.

The alleged killer appeared in Manhattan court yesterday morning via video from his confinement in Bellevue Hospital, where he faced charges for the Manhattan portion of his attacks.

Gelman’s murderous spree began February 11, when he allegedly stabbed his stepfather to death. Over the next 28 hours, authorities say he murdered a female acquaintance and her mother, killed a fourth person in a hit and run, and stabbed a handful of others before his arrest on February 12.

Now the Daily News is reporting some of the 17 disturbing statements Gelman said following his arrest, made public in court papers on Tuesday. Among other things, the apparently delusional Gelman said the following:

  • Immediately after his arrest he told police, “I’ve had better days.”
  • About 40 minutes after that, he said “I’ve had a doozy of a day” inside the Midtown South precinct.
  • “I wish you had shot me,” he told cops. “I would’ve been better off if you shot me.”
  • About 25 minutes later, he said, “You should stay away from angel dust.”
  • “You know I’ve got cancer. I’ve got six months … I did this because I have cancer.” (Something we’ve heard before.)
  • Another thing we’ve heard before? The he was set-up: “I am the Mack, the guy you’re looking for,” he said at another point. “The FBI gave me a raw deal.”

Gelman remains held at Bellevue without bail. His Brooklyn incidents and Manhattan incidents will be tried separately.

Why publish this here? The man is evil sicko yes, but 3 train is not running in S-Bay area.

And more important: why no mention anywhere
in your blog about the demonstration on Voorhies
against the creeping shariaization of our beautiful
    neighborhood on March 13, 2011?

For your info: Islam Chechens in a Norway refugee center
were making the Norwegian ladies working in the center
and who were in fact helping the Chehens–to wear head scarfs
and long skirt, long-sleeve dresses. Norwegians were threatened with
physical violence ‘in the name of Allah’ when refused.

Are you ready to start avoiding Voorhies in future because
someone ‘in the name of Allah’ will dislike your passing by
because of your cloths and appearance? Or you will try to explain that
you in fact were helping them to get to the Voorhies?

        My dear Sir / Madam,

Getting “over it” would mean getting over the heritage of Washington and Jefferson, of Emerson and Whitman, MLK Jr, Bella Abzug.

And it will not save you from dhimmification of the kind like such of
Copts in Egypt or of Jews in Iran.

I am sure you are better than that.

        It’s the matter of numbers.
Vocal and energetic now, at the rate of ~2% of population, the dhimmifiers

        Wake up.

The same bunch that support the mosque will look the other way when the real threats to our freedoms rear their ugly head.

The truly evil people (such as the Koch Brothers) who are trying to take over this country are encouraging diversions such as fear mongering about a Islamic takeover of America because it wastes the time of those who could be doing more to stop them. People like D3ba become their pawns, to be discarded as troublemakers if they ever succeed in their ultimate goals.

          • Db3a

Well, as the trustees of Columbia University in the 1930s said (“the current government of Germany is just a government as any other”) you might say “that’s just a religion as any other”.

But are you aware of what’s going on in Europe and Russia
vis-a-vis the guests from the Moslem lands?

Pre-modern people using modern tools to unseat the post-modern societies.

          • NONOTMOSLUMZZLOLZ

Please, enlighten us. Because I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about with Europe and Russia. No governments there have been unseated by Muslims. In fact, only corruption, sex scandals and, shit, even plagiarism are affecting the gov’ts there, but I haven’t seen any of these countries start practicing sharia law (just the opposite – they’ve become more intolerant of Muslims, restricting immigration, and banning Muslim imagery). The governments there and their structures remain intact, just as they will in America, thanks to our wonderful constitution which forbids anything like sharia law ever becoming a reigning philosophy here. Apparently, you have no faith in America, our Constitution, or the strength of its ideals.

Listen, we’ve got bigger things to worry about. You should be really scared of those things, not this Islam red-herring. Are you aware of what’s going on in Tasmania?

Oftentimes preconceptions are obstacles for an objective analysis.

What do you do with the facts of religiously motivated acts of terror by Moslems in the US? Is it all made up by the horrible right-wing conspiracy?

What do you do with the suprematist concepts of these so called “victims of prejudice”, through which you being a non-Moslem are automatically inferior and a
            legitimate target for persecution?

It seems you are ready to accommodate. But they are NOT ready.
Look at Germany–with all the multiculturalist efforts, generous welfare and education possibilities, Turks in 2d, 3d generations remain isolated and unwilling to accomodate. Sweden, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Russia are full of problems related to the Moslems, with no go zones, crime, honor killings etc.

Do you want all this here, in the US? In YOUR apartment, in YOUR backyard?

          • http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001 Lisanne!

I’m sorry you do not believe in American values, and American solutions to problems. We will accommodate according to the definitions of our laws. To assume that we will not do so is to show a lack of understanding of how important the rule of law here, and how, when secular law attempts to supersede it civil law wins out, every time.

None of the countries you mentioned have become ruled by Sharia law. Those who commit crimes in the name of their religion are prosecuted. No consideration is given to “cultural differences”.

Please stop spreading paranoia. In the end you will only create an environment where crazies will start to target Muslims for physical violence, just as in the past Blacks have been targets, and gays and transgendered are targets today.

          • Db3a

Please don’t ascribe your features to somebody you do not know.

I don’t think unfair tricks like ungrounded accusations of the “You don’t believe in American values” type will do you any good.
Plus I notice that you consistently avoid the facts to which I am trying to bring your attention to.

Lisanne! You don’t live on Voorhies Avenue, do you?

Anyway, what is most repelling about the pseudo-liberals is that they are ready to be nice and cozy and self-righteous at the expense of a regular Joe the Plumber who in fact lives on the Voorhies Avenue and will be the butt of the pseudo-liberal experiment with Sharia.

          • http://blog.arikatt.com Ariela Baranov

You complain about her saying you don’t believe in American values, yet you called me less of an American and a coward in one of your other posts. Hypocritical much?

          • Db3a

            Misunderstood.
If you would kindly re-read my post, it was about certain actions to which the said adjectives were attached, and not to your persona.

But my point is something as follows:

Pseudo-liberals are apt at making other people, mostly from the working class,
to go through the practical results of application of their intellectual constructs,
while staying away physically from the actual places where their beautiful principles are being applied.
            And that’s Hypocrisy indeed.

            Example:
“Mohammed Tasleem Tahir cuts off woman’s tongue, slices mouth open; the victim, Catherine Jessica Cameron, 20… etc.” That’s Australia.
But getting here in the U.S. more Moslem immigrants with their different views on women and what is acceptable to do to them, it is unavoidable that certain number of American females will die or get mutilated because of these Moslem newcomers (as opposed to non-Moslem immigrants).

Surely no pseudo-liberal (and no other person) would be willing to offer their sisters, daughters to be sacrificed by the Moslem newcomers through some unfortunate turn of fate. But statistically speaking there will be some more victims of misogynist violence due to influx of Moslem immigrants with ingrained misogynistic values. The immigrants tend to settle in the areas of lower-incomed groups. Support of such immigration directly leads to some loss of life of Americans.
Pseudo-liberals do support such immigration and must be well aware there will be some loss of life. But they consider that the victims will be not from their milieu and as such be expandable in the name of (as it turns out) American principles!
If this is not a Hypocrisy, what is then?

          • http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001 Lisanne!

So you don’t have any faith in the rule of law, especially Constitutional law?

The Constitution is one of the most important documents created when the United States sought to define itself as a nation, unique at the time because it protected the rights of its citizens to practice their individual beliefs, and protected against any attempt by any organized and unorganized group to codify their belief system into law.

Thusly, you don’t believe in American values.

          • Db3a

            Wrong.
All my faith is in the rule of law,
            especially Constitutional law.
My concern is, though, that in some
            areas this rule is suspended.

          • RY

Except that in 1933 not one Jew committed suicide mission in any country of the world and threaten the world peace. You have wrong analogy.
What happened to Jews is precisely what you said: they were demonized by the Nazi party and German media, based on their ancestry and faith only.
Perhaps you failed to notice that both 1993 bombing and 2001 attack on World Trade center were orchestrated by Islamic groups/individuals?
Now, what if it were Orthodox Jews who bombed the WTC? I am pretty damn sure they would have been all kicked out of the country across the pond to Israel, there is no doubt in my mind that even it Nazi Germany was to repeat itself then it would be pretty close to the mass deportation or some sort of camp (sort of like for Japanese American during WWII).
Not that Db3a comment had anything to do with Gelman, but lately Ned is avoiding that topic and does not report on any activity by Bay People. Why is that? Trying to be PC, why?

Following are just a few of the many massacres committed by Jewish-Zionist terrorists, notably by the Zionist Hagana, Irgun and Stern Gang groups.

            1. King David Hotel, July 22, 1946.
            2. Sharafat, Feb. 7, 1951.
            3. Deir Yassin, April 10, 1948.

            8. Nahalin, March, 28, 1954.
            9. Al-Qabu, May 1, 1948.
            10. Gaza, Feb. 28, 1955.
            11. Beit Kiras, May 3, 1948.
            12. Khan Yunis, May 31, 1955.
            13. Beitkhoury, May 5, 1948.
            14. Khan Yunis Again, Aug. 31, 1955
            15. Az-Zaytoun, May 6, 1948.

            25. Gharandal, Sept. 13, 1956.
            26. Gaza Strip, Nov. 1956.
            26. Gaza Strip, Nov. 1956.

July 2, 1946: The King David Hotel in Jerusalem was bombed, killing 91 people.

Menachem Begin, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize for peace, is the same man who planned the destruction of the King David Hotel and the massacre of Deir Yassin. Ex prime minister, Shamir, was originally a member of the Jewish terrorist gang called Irgun, which was headed by none other than Menachem Begin. Shamir later moved over to the even more radical “Stern Gang,” which committed many vicious atrocities.

On December 12, 2001, JDL leader Irv Rubin and JDL member Earl Krugel were charged with planning a terror attack against the office of Arab-American Congressman Darrell Issa, in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The two also planned attacks on the King Fahd Mosque in Culver City, California.

In 2004 congressional testimony, John S. Pistole, Executive Assistant Director for Counterterrorism and Counterintelligence for the Federal Bureau of Investigation described the JDL as “a known violent extremist Jewish Organization.” FBI statistics show that, from 1980 through 1985, there were 18 terrorist attacks in the U.S. committed by Jews; 15 of those by members of the JDL. Mary Doran, an FBI agent, described the JDL in a 2004 Congressional testimony as “a proscribed terrorist group”.

I don’t like the fact that the ENTIRE protest movement is portrayed by local media as “bigoted”. I know that I would not like any place of worship right next door to my house, where an announcement is blared over the loudspeaker five times a day, and an additional traffic jam is created. There are valid reasons for opposing a mosque there. I don’t doubt there is bigotry in the fight, but the media should not stereotype and one-side-report the story.
The same goes for the mosque by the WTC. In this case, there are even stronger reasons to oppose it, but that’s not the topic here.

          • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

if they were opening a church anywhere, do you think people would protest? well, i might, but i might be shot if i did.

          • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

that mosque’s no where near WTC, and why would that matter at all? if you oppose anything that is COMPLETELY LEGAL, you are a bigot :)

          • Barkingspider7

The building for the mosque is by the WTC. It is on Park Place, right near Barclay Street. It is the old Burlington Coat Factory. I work right near there. I agree with you though Nick. if one opposes anything that is legal, that person is a bigot.

          • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

than again, what if the law was to be a bigot (like how being gay is borderline illegal in some places)! oy vey, i trapped myself on that one :P

          • http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001 Lisanne!

It wasn’t just borderline illegal 50 years ago in many places. Even New York had anti-sodomy laws on the books.

And let’s not forget Jim Crow laws.

Hopefully, we evolve over time. The real consideration should always be whether laws do more harm than good.

          • Db3a

No one opposes the Pk-51 calling it illegal. It’s about good judgement.
The pope moved a catholic convent from Auschwitz because, even though
there were many Catholic victims, it touched the sensibilities of the Jewish people.
And that’s a noble and gracious gesture.
            Now back to Pk-51:
It may be perfectly legal but insensitive to feelings of other people.
Would it be a bigotry to point this out and attract public attention to it?

          • http://www.nedberke.com Ned Berke

I dont have a dog in this fight, but I have to point out that I find it funny you gave someone a hard time earlier for what you considered to be an approach mired in “PC” foolishness, and then simultaneously make the argument that they shouldn’t build the Pk-51 mosque because it’s “insensitive to feelings of other people.”

Again – I’m just amused at the approach; it’s not a commentary on the opinion.

          • nolastname

How do I say nicely,”do you have one of those fighting chickens in it?”. LOL
            face/palm.

          • Db3a

Nu so what, if it’s more than one rhetorical end they leave for me
to tie, why not point at it/ tie them ends togetherr

      • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

makes me sick that 2.3 MILLION of OUR dollars saved this asshole, and probably countless more money put him in there. america is turning into facist germany quicker every day

    • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

if you are going to be racists why not pull out all the stop. lets protest every church and temple. dirty fucking christians and jews, they treat humans like shit. we should burn down every house of worship! there, thats more like it.

      • http://blog.arikatt.com Ariela Baranov

But Christians and Jews likely wouldn’t threaten with physical violence if you simply didn’t conform to their dress code. Well, if they’re so fundamentalist they still believe in stoning, maybe, but if they live in the real world they’d probably just fire you and/or kick you off the premises. That’s very different than physical threats in the name of a god, just for not wanting to wear a skirt or cover your hair.

And Db3a, you can’t just say that now we can’t even WALK down Voorhies because of these people. That’s ridiculous. Trying to enforce a dress code in your own establishment is much more “acceptable” for religious groups than blindly attacking strangers on the street for it.

Honestly though, if you plan on working in such a strict religious environment, you should kinda be willing to go along with the rules and atmosphere so you don’t cause unnecessary waves. If you don’t believe in the same values, go work somewhere else. That doesn’t excuse the idiocy/threats on the part of the Chechens, but still. Common sense, people.

        • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

i think he fails to realize we are governed by laws in america and not by religion (ok, well the chritians are still fucking up our rule books….but you been used to that)

        • Db3a

          Ariela,

I’m sure you don’t want to hear “Kover yor sheim, bich” on Voorhies.

But that’s what might ultimately come to pass. That’s what my wife heard WALKING by a mosque in Queens (area close to Jamaica Estates).

you know how many times the whites used to curse out the blacks, and how today many blacks do the same to whites. and how many muslims are looked at as terrorists. the worlds full of ignorant hateful people. banning one place of worship has nothing to do with ignorance. Christians want “fags” to burn in hell. you cant stop hate with more hate. either ignore the ignorant or try to teach them, dont become one of them.

          • http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001 Lisanne!

Actually, hate is not supposed to be part of Christian belief. Unfortunately all religions are perverted by those who need to exercise bad behavior while claiming piety.

          • Backagain

Thank you. There’s nothing wrong with religion. Though totally non-religious, I think religion in general is a force for good in the world. However, it is constantly perverted by violent, destructive weirdos. If there was no religion, these same violent nutjobs would still do their thing, though.

          • http://twitter.com/nicktherat Nick the Rat

chritians use to take SLAVES because converting them into christians made it ok. hell they thought it was better than ok! every religion preaches peace, too bad HUMANS are HATEFUL!

            The Cannons Of Christianity

          • http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisanne001 Lisanne!

Nietzsche once wrote that the last Christian died on the cross 2,000 years ago. I wouldn’t go that far but those who became the standard bearers for Christian belief often misused their power in a destructive manner.

          • http://blog.arikatt.com Ariela Baranov

But that’s all it is, when it’s out in the street – just some idiot calling out bullshit. It’s just as annoying or insulting as dumbass construction workers catcalling women on the street. People can say what they wish when they’re standing in a place that serves as a ‘stronghold’ for their cause/religion/delusions. It’s not nice, but there’s nothing you can really do unless they turn outright violent and get physically confrontational with complete strangers.

          • Anonymous

You may want to talk with some of the hipster who ride their bikes through Williamsburgh. The Orthodox Jews have been harassing them for how they dress.

Religious nuts do stupid nutty things.

          • NONOTMOSLUMZZLOLZ

And don’t forget the march the Orthodox Jews had down “their” section of Kings Highway, protesting businesses that don’t close down for Shabbos. Oh, or the Orthodox Jews’ influence in keeping gay marriage illegal in NYS. Oh, oh, oh, or their fighting a state law that makes it illegal to consider sexual orientation when evaluating someone for employment. Not to mention their frequently poor treatment of women, and a number of other attempts to inject their religious views into the political and social realms.

Shall we call this “Creeping halakha”?

Of course not. That’s ridiculous. Why? Because I love my Constitution and my country’s ideals, and I have every bit of faith that it will succeed in protecting my rights from intolerant bigots of all stripes for so long as our nation exists.

          • Anonymous

            Amen Brother! Amen.

          • http://blog.arikatt.com Ariela Baranov

Granted, people like that are insane, insulting, and ridiculous. I’m not denying that. Hell, I grew up around yeshiva peers and teachers with that sort of mentality, so I’m aware of how widespread the ignorance can be. But what would you do, lock them all up for it? I have yet to hear a logical recourse for actively stopping/curbing that kind of behavior. It all ties into the more annoying aspect of Freedom of Speech. People can protest and insult and say whatever they want, even if it’s hurtful and incendiary. Just look at the Westboro Baptists and their military funeral ‘protests’. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do to stop that brand of hatred and fundamentalist idiocy, so our only recourse is to either ignore it or try and educate the offenders.

          • RY

And how many of Orthodox Jews blew up WTC in 2001?
Or any Jew for that matter. Last time a Jew blew up anything…let me think….never, if we do not count blowing nose or blowing his wad……..
            Did I make my point?
The difference is in the intent, just like with murder or manslaughter. Jews can talk and yell and demonstrate, but not one case throughout the history you will find Jews killing others just because they would not convert to Judaism. On contrary, Jews were forced to convert to Catholicism and Christianity. Islam on the other hand, if you do not convert, you are not human, you are nothing, camel, sheep and other farm animals are better than infidel, and prove to that is the fact that Muslim men in distant ages and not so distant had sexual relations with those farm animals. I am not pulling all this out of the thin air, this has been written about many times.

          • Db3a

Oh, that’s all? Thanks, now can sleep peacefully.

          • Db3a

Well, I want less of such “idiots calling out bullshit”, not more–are you not?
Accommodating those and their act is cowardly and not quite American, imho.

          • http://blog.arikatt.com Ariela Baranov

I want less of them too, but I’m not about to get myself arrested or hurt trying to handle the problem personally. Some people are activists and live for throwing themselves into those situations, but I’m not one of them. And that’s not “cowardly”, “less American”, NOR is it “accommodating” them. Accommodating them would be to outwardly *condone* their behavior and give them the power to legally do what they want to people who don’t fit their religious standards.

I’m done responding to you. You’re seriously delusional (and just as tunnel-vision fundamentalist as some of them) if you see this all in such black and white terms and equate everything I’ve said to “accommodation.” You can’t seem to realize it when people AGREE with your basic points, but just have different approaches to things. According to you that different approach makes them entirely wrong and on the “enemy” side. Based on that alone, I’d just as soon avoid you on the street as I would all those other people.

          • Db3a

Sorry if my insistence on paying attention to what I tried to point out made you unhappy.
It’s just your argumentation had some holes which I could not help but notice.

I seriously think that if this guy gets on the stand, and testifies that the criminal policies of George Bush drove him to murder, that he can get at least 4 votes to acquit out of a New York jury. And I am not joking on this. I have served on 5 juries, including one slightly famous murder trial (it did make the papers in a small article), and I’ve seen some pretty strange and political thinking going on in there.

Come to think of it, maybe I shouldn’t post this, it might give the defense some ideas.
