Old postcards with photos of our neighborhood turn up on eBay fairly often, and subsequently show up in my Google Alerts. There’s usually very little information about the postcards – the one above, for example, is undated with no mention of the publisher or photographer (notice, please, how few houses there are on Shore Boulevard). But after I see them on eBay, those photos are never to be seen again as they usually can’t be found online. From now on, I’ll be posting them here for posterity. Enjoy.

A lot of boats, and I’m sure this was taken on an average Sheepshead Bay afternoon.

    I do remember this…
I have lived in Manhattan Beach for more than 70 years…
This scene is showing the great number of boats in Sheepshaed Bay that are
WEST of the footbridge. Some of them could not leave the area except at low tide to be able to get under the bridge to go out. There were two yacht clubs and docks
at the this end of the bay, where this photo was taken from. It is not that long ago, when these docks were totally removed.

I love these old post cards this is how the bay was I recall this when I was a kid. Maybe this is from the 1940's just guessing. This part of Brooklyn has a great amount of history.
    Thanks Ned

This is west of the footbridge, where now the bay is used only as a garbage dump.
