From the Daily News:

The naked bodies of a “loving” mother and her 8-year-old daughter were found in a bathtub in their Brooklyn home early Sunday, police and friends said.

Shakeema Elliott, 29, and Kaliya Williams were already dead by the time paramedics arrived at their Batchelder St. home at 4:20 a.m., police said.

Elliott and Kaliya – whom friends lovingly called “Le Le” – were always together, friends recalled yesterday.

“She was a loving mother,” said Tobias Stuart, 34. “It was just her and her daughter all the time.”

Cops were called to the Nostrand Houses in Sheepshead Bay to look into a reported burglary. They found Elliott’s fourth-floor home ajar, and then made the chilling discovery in her bathroom.

“There was some water in the bathtub and some pills were around,” a police source said.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, and no suspects were being interviewed last night, police said.

It is really scary. I think I saw them shopping in the supermarket, they look so familiar. Some people are just sick — some sort of psychoses. Stay safe, bean.

MY family moved into the Nostrand Project on Batchelder ST in 1950. It was brand new and mostly families of WW2 vets. We rarely locked our doors and the worst crime was my friends and I playing ball on the grass. We used to run from the security guard to avoid a fine. We did not know we were poor and saved our money for a comic book or candy from VJ’s on Ave V. WE were bused to PS 52 for two years and then went to PS 194. Later we attended Shellbank JHS and Sheepshead Bay HS. Most of us went on to college, some of us serving in the military in the 60′s. It is sad for me to read of the violence which now exists in what was a nice place to be a kid. I lived in the projects for 10 years before moving to a building near Marine Park. I hope things improve and that this piece of Brooklyn will once again be a safe place to live.

I can relate with you.  I also lived in the Nostrand Projects, Batchelder bet. W & X,  I feel so horrible of what I am hearing.  My mom also left her door wide open and the neighbor next door did also.  My parents sitting outside with their friends till 2:00 in the morning.  I think its a shame what has happened to the whole area.
