It was just two and a half weeks ago that we told you about Tai Yuan replacing Tai Shan at 2224 Avenue U. But, passing by it yesterday, it doesn’t look like business has been going so well. And someone asked last week if they had closed down. Well, could this be the shortest a restaurant has ever existed?

Maybe not. This was tacked onto the gate. If only the missing piece of the puzzle were still there to clue us in.

Not that this is necessarily the case here, but some restaurants close on Mondays.

Surprised it wasn’t a Russian tax dive. That’s exactly what they do–Open lingerie-video-phone card store under stolen ss#, tax man comes a-knockin, Igor runs back to Odessa to get another stolen ss# and assumed name like Leroy Smith–And the store opens a day or two later under a different name run by another shady idiot with customer service skills.

Surprised it wasn’t a Russian tax dive. That’s exactly what they do, close and reopen under a slightly altered name, but I believe the Thai community isn’t exactly that way from what I’ve seen. The Russians, on the other hand –Open lingerie-video-phone card store under stolen ss#, tax man comes a-knockin, Igor runs back to Odessa to get another stolen ss# and assumed name like Leroy Smith–And the store opens a day or two later under a different name run by another shady idiot with bad customer service skills. The stock in the store is good at first, then little by little, it gets down to nothing because they never had any intention of replacing it in the first place. Happens all the time. Happened to Schluckers when they were taken over and a hundred other places we’ve been to.
