If we were to publish once a day on Saturdays and Sundays, what sort of content would you like to see on those days?

How about articles with local people interviewed.Like one of the newspapers does. An “Ask the public” with comments and pics.I would like to see a treasure hunt or something people can do during the summer that would have us crossing paths.
P.S. you do mean in addition to during the week?
Coverage of the numerous farm markets/greenmarkets could be very interesting.
“Numerous farm markets/greenmarkets” ?? To my knowledge, there is not a single farmer's market or green market in the Sheepshead Bay area. You know something I don't?
I was thinking that they are all over Brooklyn and while I prefer living around here (I'm in Madison) I do venture out quite often.
Mmm. I asked the guys over at Saltywater Tackle on Jerome Ave – since they do runs down to NC and elsewhere – if they'd bring a Sheepshead back for me. I'm not holding my breath, but that would be awesome.
I like both of these ideas. I'd have to wonder though – the ask the public thing, isn't that pretty much what the comments section on this site is? ;)
Treasure hunt: everyone go find a dollar. Bring it to me. We'll all cross paths at my office.
What do you think would happen if we brought like 50 of them and just dumpedthem into the water….
At least for the summer months, I'd like to see weekend getaway destinations. Recreation activities. It could be anything from taking a ride up the Taconic, a drive along the North Shore of Long Island in search of the perfect B&B, or even a day sail out of the Miramar Yacht Club right here on Emmons Avenue.
Once were lots of them here but they left in search of cleaner water. Not kidding.
Madison is the small area nestled between Sheepshead and midwood right? Between Ave U and KingsHighway? There are none there either….
Of course I know that, it's where our Neighborhood gets it's name from. Hence my statement, lets bring some back!
Does anyone want to hear me write about anything specific? Aside from the near mythical Sushi article that I've been planning but never writing I've kinda run out of things to write about, so I'll take some inspiration from you guys.
Right! There are none here. That is why I have to venture forth. Brooklyn is a vast, wonderful place with scads of beautiful things. And a lot of great food. But it won't come to you. You have to search it out.
They can't live in the water we have here. When we get the water back up to par, we can bring them back without killing them. Would love to see that. Maybe we can.
My understanding is that they left because the waters cooled and they need a warmer atmosphere – and also because their food source was diminishing. It had nothing to do with pollution (in fact, the water was only then beginning to deteriorate when they left). By the way, the waters now are considered much cleaner than they have been in a very long time.
I've never heard anyone write before. Interesting concept.
Is it like listening to the color of your dreams?
You could organize a SheepsheadBites weekend bike ride one weekend a month.
The only farm/green market that I know of is at Grand Army Plaza on Saturdays. They have some interesting stuff but it's a litlle pricey.
There’s a (slightly) closer Sunday market on Cortelyou Rd near the Q: http://www.cenyc.org/ourmarkets
since it's getting warmer, spotlight some places to go out for eats. outdoor events or local meetups in the neighborhood. i like nolastname's suggestion about interviewing a local and getting their thoughts on the neighborhood, or suggestions on what they like to do on their down time.
Whatever the reason, the fish never saw it fit to come back.
The interview regular people (not everyone is online) thing is cool. Or things to do. Or a recap of what people did at night, go to bars, bring a camera, post pictures. Give them your URL, they'll want to see their pics. Or a restaurant review. Or something kid friendly. If there is anything kid friendly. Or a poll of something every weekend along the lines of “what is the best pizza and why” “where is the best beer” “where are the best shoe bargains” “the best place to get a tan” whatever. Poll and convo. Then at the end of the year you can recap it, put a vote up of the nominees over the year and put out a BEST OF SHEEPSHEAD BAY edition/post.
No Sunday comics, I guess.
Ann gave a bunch of good ideas. And I know that Arthur will keep his word and write about any relevant subject suggested to him.
Having weekend content is a good idea. I'm so glad that everyone looks forward to Monday's offerings, but a lot of us need an SB fix during the weekend as well.
I think they got lost during one of the numerous reshapings of Sheepshead Bay. They went to the Hamptons for the summer and when they got back it wasn't recognizable to them anymore.
Maybe we can interview some of their descendants.
does anyone know where you can play darts around here.
Last time I was there, Wheelers had a dart board.
thanks. so does anyone play darts?
I play, but I am terrible.
ok so you learn. sometime next week lets grab a beer and play.
