The Sheepshead Bay outpost of hit Ukrainian eatery Cafe Glechik looks like it’s almost ready to open its doors. Decor is up on the walls and the dining area looks complete. When we stopped by last week the owner was there, who confirmed they were preparing to throw a grand opening celebration, but couldn’t say when.

The 1655 Sheepshead Bay Road storefront is the second location for Cafe Glechik. The original Brighton Beach establishment at 3159 Coney Island Avenue was featured on Anthony Bourdain’s Travel Channel show.

According to Grub Street, the owner flew to the Ukraine to cull decor. From what can be seen from the street, the two-level cafe looks tasteful, clean, and cozy. We’re looking forward to ordering a bowl of pelmeni when opening day rolls around.

There is one on Coney Island avenue and if the owner is the same person then food it great. Especially Pelmeni or dumplings. They even sell them frozen so you can make them at home yourself.
    Def a place to try.

OMG GLECHIK. Every culture has a meat-filled pastry-like food item – pelmeni is FANTASTIC. Get the Siberian pelmeni. Mmmm.I know my boyfriend's been waiting forever for the SBay location to open. Might have to pop by there again.

I absolutely hate Glechik, i've been in their coney island location twice and i hated both of the times! first time the waiters were rude and nasty and second time when i was waiting for my food i saw a cook making dishes in the kitchen and smoking a cigarette…seriously? r u crazy?

i absolutely love this place. the food there is amazing. it is really hard to describe how convienent it is to have them open on sheepshead bay. i love the one on coney island and what makes this even better is that it will be right next to me. good to see them expanding!! good luck and cant wait to go there with my friends.
