A 40-year-old woman was killed on Sunday when a car reversed too quickly and slammed into her and four others.

The black 2010 Mercedes SUV was driven by a elderly parishioner (reports of his age vary between 62 and 73 years old) of Pyeong AHN Presbyterian Church (2407 McDonald Avenue). He was pulling out of a parking space around 3 p.m. when he accelerated too quickly and plowed into four other parishioners – three women, a 10-year-old and an infant.

Forty-year-old Sung Won Cho died of her injuries at the scene, while the other four received only minor injuries.

No charges were brought against the driver, and no alcohol or drug use is suspected.

      Very sad.

This is why elderly drivers should be tested and retested regularly for sight and other necessary requirements for driving a motor vehicle! I can't believe some of the elderly drivers I see on the road. They are completely oblivious of their surroundings while walking, let alone driving a vehicle.

I agree, with all the respect to the elderly, we need to keep the traffic safe, and a regular retest is due here. This is a good example where the law has no real power of dispensing justice: while the elderly driver clearly had no intention of hurting anybody, and even if the car insurance can cover the repair costs, no person or company will be able to bring Sung Won Cho back.

Wow, can you be even more of a scumbag? A woman died and you're trying to push car insurance in a thinly-veiled attempt with false emotions?

Yeah, I have no problem with the elderly driving, but the testing should be more frequent, and maybe a bit more dynamic with the driving tests, or something to monitor response times. I'm guessing the cars of the future will handle most of these things.

This is terrible and I agree with Kismet’s comment below, I see more bad driving by older people than younger, yet teenagers and young adults constantly get bad press.

Cheap Cars to insure is something you should consider before buying your next car because you can save money on your insurance or spend more money, when you make your choice. Prices are determined by the insurance companies according to a variety of factors and the type of car you own is very important.
