Garbage overflows regularly at public trash cans. (Photo by Ray Johnson, two weeks before the storm.)

The storm has caused so much destruction, sending boats, trees and their limbs, signs, and houses crashing to the ground. But it’s not just the trees that got whipped in the wind. Garbage like this gets blown onto the streets by the strong winds, just as well.

Sheepshead Bay, we have a major cleanup to do. Let’s hurry and clean up our act before our streets become one big trash heap.

Sheepshead Bay has become one big dump. Sanitation needs to start giving out tickets and more tickets, and more tickets. Hit them in their pockets. There is no reason why the residents shold live among this filth.

man it looks like this every day from the animals waiting at the bus,i sweep outside my store 5 times a day
  • Well, thanks for sweeping, Craig. This is one of my pet peevs and a lot of business owners have given up and don't try anymore. Sanitation needs to step it up a notch and keep those cans empty, and tickets need to be given out to litterers and delinquent store owners. Don't lose heart just because people keep dropping shit there - keep your sidewalk clean and customers WILL notice the difference.
