Employees at Brand Z For Less have confirmed that the business is closing on January 31st. There’s a big sign up at the 1805 Avenue U location. We haven’t been able to reach an owner to find out whether it’s a lease, business, personal or some other issue, but we wish the owners and employees the best of luck. ‘Til then, any speculation about what will become of the space?

The return of Key Food?
Good riddance to bad rubbish! It shows only that the market could not bear a place as expensive as this place was. The so called brand names they had in there were just as the name of the store: Brand Z. Whereas Value Deport had some variety of merchandise and more mens goods, bZ was almost exclusively womens clothing. The community couldn't support it. Value Deport was somewhat less expensive but no fit replacement for the store that was there for many years before. Now I second the idea of Lisanne. Bring back Key Food! Bring back a real supermarket not some goo-may Emporium for the well heeled and conspicuously consumptive.
