Royal Bay Restaurant In Sheepshead Bay

Well, the mystery is over regarding Sheepshead Bay Road’s latest restaurant – it ain’t a sushi joint. Or at least we think it’s not a sushi joint.

Signs went up at 1794 Sheepshead Bay Road late last week reading Royal Bay Restaurant, ending a lot of “hmms” and “huhs” over who would occupy the flashy, windowless façade. Still, other than a love of coat d’arms, we don’t have much more information than that.

    Yes, I remember you mentioned that, Arthur B. I don’t know which Armenian place is renting it, but it is listed in 2008 as being connected to Armenia, so there might be some other Armenian connection

    I believe it openened two weeks ago because my husband and I dined there last week and it was really nice. Great atmosphere, delicious food (no sushi), and an amazing bar! The menu was mostly French and Russian inspired, and the prices were reasonable. Loved it!

    Owner is a Russian lady, husband is loaded, bought the place out of boredom.
    Food is mediocre. Music is too loud.
    Otherwise, typical.

Place closes at 1pm. Music stops and waiter brings you check. The owner is not a nice lady – when I made reservations I was promised that the music will be played until we leave – FALSE – owner said – if you dont like it, next time go to another restaurant – WOW – yeah I know – NEXT TIME I WILL FOR SURE!!!!

    My wife and I decided to give this new restaurant a shot and we’re so glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife had the grilled branzini fish, which was simple but very flavorful (just like fish should be). I had the filet mignon and it was out of this world. I will definitely be going back, and recommending it to friends!

        I think he’s saying that you shouldn’t order the Chilean sea bass because it is severely overfished and is not a sustainable species. More importantly, he says the sauce was seasoned with a spicy dill sauce which only gave him a bad case of gas.
