The first letter is a very strange and inappropriate response to a serious problem. Hopefully, the problem can be given serious and approriate attention by the officials in charge.

In the interim, the MBCG might consider putting up warning signs and convex traffic mirrors at the spot. Something has to be done to avoid another serious injury or death.

Seems to me that should be a DOT concern as well as that of the community. Perhaps a letter to DOT might help, it's conceivable that they can persuade the Parks Department to move the platers to a safer location.

It is my belief that government should be responsible to the people when their requests, demands or needs are reasonable. In the case of the concrete planters, almost all of Manhattan Beach, our Councilman and our Congressman appear to be in agreement that the planters should be moved to a safer location. What is the big deal? This experience is an example of local government at its very worse. We, at the Manhattan Beach Community Group, believe that the safety of our residents and the approximately 500,000 visitors to our community are at risk while walking or driving on Oriental Blvd. due to these planters. Brooklyn Parks is playing roulette with our lives and should move the planters immediately.
