• Cell Phone Store on Sheepshead Bay Road Shuttered

The cellphone store at 1505 Sheepshead Bay Road slapped up a “For Rent” sign this Monday. There still appeared to be a few things inside, but posters were torn down. I noticed because I saw them a few feet away, lying in the public garbage can under the Sheepshead Bay Train Station overpass. I bet if you go now, you may still see the Boost Mobile signs spilling out onto the sidewalk. But the closure makes me wonder: has Sheepshead Bay finally hit its saturation point for cellphone stores? I don’t know, but this is one down, and 54,682,786,023 more to go. Oh, and no, that guy has nothing to do with it. He was just waiting for the bus.

They were trying so hard too, constantly replacing the balloons that they used as sidewalk decorations.

Do you have a life? Instead of taking pictures of other people that are just trying to make an honest living and provide for their families why don’t you write stories about all the bad things worth mentioning like all the drunks and homeless people hanging out by the Sheepshead Bay Train Station or the troubling economic conditions in our country and how they are negatively affecting so many people and people have to try extra hard to make ends meet and if that means putting balloons outside to make a living and pay the bills than there is nothing wrong with that. These people are not robbing anyone one or committing crimes to make money. They are working hard to provide for their families, so stop trying to give people like that a bad name.

Gee, this story ran almost two years ago. It begs the question “Do you have a life”?

Lisanne, the pictures you took show exaclty how the business cluttered up the sidewalk with flags. There is bus stop right there and people getting on and off the bus were constantly having to dodge those things. I guess the store couldn’t make it, so that means one less “Illegal Flag” posting we’ll have to do.

I documented how the balloons would get away. When they first opened they would try to get people off the street to come in. I found it quite annoying. One day I almost got my feet tangles in their flags, which broke off and were trailing on the sidewalk.

I have no clue how so many cellphone stores in such close proximity stay open, or make any money. I don’t get why they bother opening. Is there really THAT many people looking for a new place to buy cellphones or contracts?

There just can’t be that many people buying all those expensive accessories. They have to be praying on morons and old people. Or maybe they are fronts for something else!

Yeah, they’re on my little list.

We need an updated version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “As Someday It May Happen”.

Ugh I can’t stand all the cell phone stores around here, there is a tmobile across the street from me, a boost mobile and a recently closed metropcs on my block. Liquor stores, cell phone stores, 99 cent stores, don’t we deserve something better? We’re a great neighborhood, and these stores are just making us look cheap.
