… Really. We’re not. No announcements to make here, folks.
BUT, if – in a purely hypothetical world – Sheepshead Bites held a debate and asked you what we should ask candidates for City Council, what would you say? What issues about the neighborhood do you think need to be addressed? What is the mainstream media missing in its coverage of politics? Come on, we all watch the news and scoff when we see reporters drop the ball on the follow up, or just ask lame questions to begin with. So what are the hard questions? It’s your time to shine, people. Hypothetically, of course.
And remember, this is a position whose power affects policy for the whole city, so don’t feel pressed to only ask things about the neighborhood. What are the issues that need to be discussed in order to ensure you pick the right candidate to make this city and our neighborhood better?

Right now, the biggest question is “What should the city be doing to right now to meet expenses in a diminishing economy? Should we be cutting services, increasing the tax burden on those best able to pay, or should be considering other options.
I understand about the “troubled economy” but my real estate taxes increased by 22% this year when the value of my home decreased. Who’s really thinking about the middle class?
I want to see some real jobs created in the area. What’s being done to lure businesses to our neck of the city?
The other is now that the economy is down, how about some real zoning changes. I’m not against change, but can the area handle more condos without adequate parking?
Can our roads handle the increased traffic loads? (Remember the proposal for a new building on Sheepshead Bay Road which suggested adding 700 cars to the area?)
Vote the bastards out!
I hate it when an election comes around and there is no one to vote for, but plenty to vote against. This is one of those years.
Mayor Mike and the City Council have spit in our faces and now ask us to embrace them with our love and votes. Mostly votes.
The people of New York voted twice to adopt terms limits. But Mayor Mike didn’t like that and convinced City Council members that it was in their benefit to disenfranchise us, toss out our legal votes and the legally enacted law, and pretend it didn’t happen.
Only the seriously retarded could buy what they are doing. What will their next move be if they can just ignore our votes?
So, I have to vote against Mayor Mike, and
All members of the City Council who supported him. Some are running for City Council again, some for other offices. Those rogue scum have to be history.
And anyone else running for a third term in any city office.
vote out Bloomberg and everyone in the City Council who voted in support of lifting the limits!
I do not like politics and I hate Bloomie.
this is not an “I like/dislike” issue anymore. the voters were spat in the face by the mayor and the majority in City Council. by voting these people out of their respective offices we will send a message to the rest of them reminding to those whose memory appears to be too short who they work for.
