front yard garden e19 sept 2009

This is another example of Sheepshead Bay’s front yard garden displays.

Located on East 19th St (between Avenue X and Avenue Y), the trailing vines are growing on the staircase’s railing and to the second floor.

There are two different types of large leaves that appear to be some kind of vegetable.  But the homeowners can’t expect dinner, yet, because there aren’t any vegetables. We’ll have to wait until harvest time, to see what is growing — unless, any of Sheepshead Bay’s farming descendants know something about gardening.

We got too much rain this year. It’s causing everything to grow out of control. Nature wins over “civilization” once again. Eventually the vines will take over.

I’ve been noticing a lot of this sort of thing since June. It’s incredible.
