We’ve received word that an armed robbery occurred at the Staples at 1880 Coney Island Avenue (between Avenue O and Avenue P). Hostages were held for a short period. The robbery happened around 11 a.m. and, to our knowledge, has so far been resolved without anyone being harmed. We have no further information at this time.

that CI Staples store has always been seeing weird things there, so very few random times i have shopped or just browsed around, there are always ppl(employees or security guards) chasing shoplifters and wrestling at the front door and fights over stolen erasers and highlighters.
It starts with erasers, then onto stuff bigger and better.

I suppose that someone thinks they’re making a killing with the big ticket items like computers and cameras. But I would think that 11:00 in the morning is a little too early for attempting this. OTOH, many of their stores open at 7AM.
