Arbuz has started vending its frozen treats from the trendy storefront on Sheepshead Bay Road. Picking up on the ongoing craze sparked by Pinkberry and Red Mango, Arbuz – Russian for Watermelon – specializes in frozen yogurt. They offer four flavors (Raspberry, Watermelon, Pomagranet and Acai, and Original), topped with your choice of dry ingredients or fresh fruit. In addition to frozen yogurt, Arbuz sells a variety of tea, tiramisu and cakes. We haven’t had time to stop in for a bite, but you can bet a review is forthcoming – and we’re excited to have a homegrown business filling this niche, rather than a chain.

Thanks to Arthur B. for the photo and information.

This place is very nicely designed and the staff were very pleasant when I stopped by this week. But I have to wonder about their business acumen….Wouldn’t you want to open a cold desert place before Memorial Day, and not at the end of the summer? And how many people will buy anything once we pass Oct. 1?

I told them about a place in Hoboken that found a happy medium–from May 1-Oct. 1, the place is a frozen desert shop. From Oct. 1-April 30, it’s a hearty soup outlet. Perfect complement….

I think this is a nice addition to the neighborhood, instead of another sushi place or cell phone store. In fact I find myself quite sad that there is no Red Mango nearby. I don’t think selling yogurt will be an issue after the cooler weather comes. I mean, ice cream shops and other frozen yogurt shops survive the winter. People like cold treats all year round and we don’t have any other shops like that I can think of in the neighborhood.

Plus the hot teas and other desserts and cakes will help them weather the winter.

What a pleasant surprise. Nice to have a place like this in the mix of all the medical offices, pharmacies and cell phone stores.

    Tried the tiramisu – $4.95 and a double espresso – $3.25, impressive.
Kids had frozen yogurt with fresh cut fruit toppings, they had a blast so did I.
    Good Luck!

Very refreshing. Frozen yogurt is very similar to Red Mango. My favorite is original. Definitely worth a try.

this place is the BOMB. It is the only shop that you could see from miles away. great name ,great atmosphere, great stuff and of course great frozen yougurt. However, my husband had raspberry mouse and espresso and really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend to check Arbuz out.

Arbuz is one of the best looking places on Sheepshead Bay Rd. and to my surprise it’s not another Sushi place.

Frozen yogurt tastes great and you have a whole bunch of toppings to choose from.

Give it a try if you are in the neighborhood.

My husband and I went this weekend to try it out and I musy say we enjoyed it very much. We ordered 2 frozen yogurts with toppings to stay and we say there and it seemed so surreal it was like we were in a different world. So relaxing and the music was calming and the pictures on the wall made it feel like we were in a tropical place. The frozen yogurt was delish! i had the rasberry with mango, strawberry and blackberry toppings and the husband had chocolate frozen yogurt with white chocolate shavings, pomergranet fruit and rasberry…the combination was out of this world….The best part is it's light delish and edible all year round. I wish them much sucess! JL from Brooklyn!

Great place! The prices are higher than in Manhattan though….hope they will survive…I don't see too many people there.
