Sheepshead Bay Deauville Now the UA/IMAX

Brooklyn author Richard Grayson does. He posted this terrific shot of the Deauville Beach Club’s entrance on his Facebook account. The photo was taken on May 30th, 1964 – Grayson’s bar-mitzvah night. The Deauville was torn down many-a-year ago to make way for the UA Sheepshead Bay Stadium 14 & IMAX Theatres. You can see more photos from Grayson’s bar mitzvah on his Facebook page. Do you remember the Deauville? Share your memories of it in the comments section below.

I remember the Deauville. My grandparents were members through the 60′s and early 70′s. My parents were married there. Great memories!

My brother’s bar mitzvah was at the Deauville, circa 1970. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

I remember the Deauville well.  Went to many “Tempo” singles dances there on Friday nights during my late teens and early twenties in the 1970′s.  I had my wedding reception there as well in 1980.  Thanks for posting the picture!

We were one of the few Italian families to belong to the Deauville- we had a big cabana for ten yrs up to the last summer it closed. Harold was the manager. I was a mother’s helper for $1 an hr while the mom played maj jong. Met my best friend Rebecca there- we were 11 and now we are 46 and still close. Also Adina. We had crushes on the lifeguards.
