NYC School Children Close The Door On School

According to the NYC Department of Education 2008-2009 School Calendar, today, Friday, June 26, 2009 is officially the last day of school for all New York City schoolchildren.

So, this sign we saw posted on a fence on Voorhies Avenue seems fitting. Kids, just because you’ve closed the door on another school year, doesn’t mean you can forget to close the door to the backyard.

Have a safe and healthy summer and remember what the sign says…

    “Little Children- Please Make Sure You Close This Door”

    The question that immediately popped into my mind was, What about large children? Are the stockier kids somehow exempt from following this rule? Granted, there is an ongoing problem of obesity in this country that needs to be dealt with. Nonetheless, I don’t see why the pee-wee porkers should be rewarded for their voracious appetite. Likewise, the slender, trim toothpick kids shouldn’t be punished by being saddled with this rule that only pertains to them. The sign is clearly biased and indicative of the weight-prejudice in our society. If I had to guess, I would say that sign was posted by someone with a giant ass. Have a great summer, kids.

    Anthony sure read into this sign! Yes it needs punctuation but its clearly there as a safety sign. does: LITTLE CHILDREN, Please make sure you close this door! work for you? However, your right…bigger children get into even more trouble. How about:
