stop sign in sheepshead bay

A reader tipped us off to a new stop sign at Avenue W and East 19th Street. In his e-mail he noted that there are no lines on the pavement yet, so be careful as you roll up on this.

(Seen any new additions to the ‘hood? Stop signs, businesses, buildings – whatever. Shoot us an e-mail so we can get the word out.)

That’s interesting, I could have sworn there always was a stop sign there. The original stop sign must have been changed to an “All Way” sign.

How can stop sign be on Ave W? There are no regular stop signs on avenues, only on streets.

gary why dont you take a ride down avenue x from mcdonald ave to east 16th st and count how many stop sign there are on that strip alone

Gary: It’s true. There are tons of stop signs on avenues in this area – especially on Aves. X & W. There are some on Ave. Y as well, though less frequently seen. Also – the photo doesn’t lie. There’s definitely a stop sign on Ave. W… though that’d be a neat camera trick.

I know there are a lot of signs on those avenues, but they are not regular STOP signs, they are STOP ALL WAY signs. I meant that there can’t be a regular STOP sign on avenues.

There are too many clowns driving recklessly in our area. I often hear of accidents on ave X and e17 and e19. Because of these dumb idiots we all have to deal with stop signs on every corner.

There was always a stop sign on East 19 Street. The new stop sign is on Ave W making it a four way stop.

A lot of driving schools let students practice around there too which is another reason why there are so many accidents.

Even though there is an all way stop sign on X and E17, clowns who are unfamiliar with the area tend to zoon by on X without noticing it.
