Parking on Emmons Ave in Sheepshead BayMaybe this guy doesn’t think acute angles are very cute. Or maybe his reaction to obtuse ones is, well, obtuse. Or perhaps he foresaw a blogger making cheesy puns at his expense and liked the idea of collecting tickets to pay for our literary sins.

Whatever the case may be, the owner of the car in the photo apparently hasn’t heard the news. A Community Board 15 initiative to change parking regulations along Emmons Avenue has opened up additional spaces along the notoriously clogged stretch. Formerly parallel, the newly angled parking spaces run on the north side of Emmons Avenue from Nostrand Avenue until Knapp Street. The new regulations create three sorely needed additional spaces per block. It’s not all good, though; because of DOT rules, the southern curb will remain parallel parking.

so maybe they should convert sourthern curb to angle parking as well. the guy in photo might be blocking spaces for others later on at night or weekend.

It’s the northern curb of the eastbound side of Emmons Ave., which is south (and would also be called the south curb of the island in the middle of the avenue), has angled.

The southern curb of the westbound side of Emmons Ave., which is north (and would also be called the north curb of the island in the middle of the avenue), has parallel parking.

The northern curb of the westbound side of Emmons Ave., has parallel parking. The southern curb of the eastbound side of Emmons Ave. is now no parking due to the angle parking.

Finally, the vessel with the pestle has the pellet with the poison, and the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true – wait, they broke the vessel with the pestle and replaced it with a flagon with a dragon on it, so the pellet with the poison is in the chalice from the palace, and the flagon with the dragon has the brew that is true. Just remember that. (“The Court Jester” starring Danny Kaye – 1955! AWESOME MOVIE!)

And now that I thoroughly confused everyone. just go down and look! :-P

Thanks for clearing that up for everyone Gene. I hope you campaign platform makes more sense than this ;)

Here’s the important thing to remember: the side of the parking island closer to the water is angled. The other side is not.

Wow, this particular post has sent me reeling. Then, the comments…I feel like I’m from outer space where who knows how North, South, East, and West work!! I wish I was an astronaut.

We can solve this whole thing by just turning the Emmons Ave into an alternative transportation route where only the only horsepower is a real horse.
